'06 model discounts

Just came back from my dealer, Flow MINI in Winston Salem, NC, and noticed that they are discounting $500 off Coopers and $700 off S models. Perhaps this is due to a large inventory.

Alternatively to the discount the buyer can receive $700/$1,000 options on each new car.

Is this something the MINI USA is subsidizing with other dealers, or just at Flow? Are other dealers offering a discount?

I'd be willing to bet that they are doing it to ensure a good supply of 07's in the future. If they don't sell the cars, their allotments go down. Even taking a small loss now is profitable in the long run.

Plus, once the 07's show up, they'll have to discount them even further. . .

I recently heard a radio ad for my local Mini dealer (Rasmussen) saying they had the 06 models in stock. I have never heard that before.

Same here. But no mention of 2006 models though.

Yes...the allotments are based on sales, so they are smart to offer some discounts to assure having enough new 2007 MINIs.

At Dreyer and Reinbold here in Indy there are A LOT of mini's on the lot. I have never seen them with so many on the lot. I am half tempted to see what they would do for a trade with my 2003... It would not be enough to be worth my while though...

I go by there a lot. I'm guessing there are about 25 new MINIs on their lot. And they don't seem to be moving.

I was at Flow yesterday to pick up my car and I got to use the discounts. Have to say they really didn't have to give them to me since the car was ordered back in early November but they went ahead and gave them to me anyway. I actually didn't take the discount off of the MSRP but instead used the $1000 off of accessories they were offering since it gave me the biggest discount.

And yes, if you are in that area they have alot of Mini's sitting on the lot to choose from. My MA told me they actually got more than they originally thought they were going to. I guess they were supposed to get in a little over 50 at the end of Nov./ begining of Dec., but had their allotment changed as they were coming in and got another 20.

Yup Rasmussen does have 06 cars here and incoming. Most are sold but we still do have some rolling this way! We had over 50 cars allocated to us..Now we have roughly 20 left. Going fast!

no discounts here in Phoenix. Any allocations are gone with days.
We lucked out. I was planning to order an 07, but they had an 06
MCS with everything I wanted. (Sport, premium, H/K). So bam!,
we bought the 06. Just my luck it was there.

Just purchased my 06 from MINI of Sterling in Virginia and got $500 off MSRP. It was a professional and (relatively) enjoyable purchasing experience.

My dealership is only giving halfway good lease offers. It would be great if I leased cars. I was hoping they would discount them because i could use a convertible!

When I picked up my 06 MCSC (on Dec 18th) the dealer acted like it was a huge deal they were giving me $500 off (I had to talk them into it-I thought it only fair since this was the 3rd MINI I was buying from them).
You'd think they'd wanna get rid of the 06's.

I went by my local MINI dealer today and they had a car in the showroom that they were offering $1500 off!!! I asked why they were doing that and they said that right now they have alot of cars and they are trying to get rid of them. He mentioned $1000 off the Cooper's and $1000 off Cooper S. Man I would have loved $1000 off my MINI.

I noticed $1500 off on Base and S models when I went down to Downtown MINI in Orlando during my Christmas vacation.. i stopped by to get some touchup paint and check out the cool showroom, and to my surprise, they had almost every car discounted... new and used...

I told my brother to hurry and grab an 06 before they were gone, but he's still debating about getting an Audi TT instead..

Classic mini in Mentor, OH, (who works with this forum btw) is offering $1000 off. The are VERY helpful, I was unlucky that they did not have exactly what I wanted. I have not purchased yet so I am going to try to get a discount now!
