Does it have to be a full sized MINI?

I think that you made an excellent choice. Dont listen to what everyone else says its what you like! Your money, your choice, and its all about you!

agreed, but to get my endorsement of your buy (b/c we all know youll never truly feel good about driving your car without it) youll have to share some more pics of your new ride.

i think the IS's look great, and i really like them as small midsize luxury cars go, only flaw is their VSA, which to turn off is a real PITA.

but congrats, and do share more pics

I agree with that.

My girlfreind was recently in the matket for a new car. We drove all kinds of Audis, BMWs, Acuras, Mercedes and Lexus. My favorites were the new 3 series coupe and much to my surprise the Lexus IS. Of course Lexus has established a record of stellar reliability.

Personally I won't give up my MINI for an IS but I could see that someone would.

Haha, nice one guys.

That is because previously we did not require it. Like I said, this is a new requirement that we had to do in order to get non-profit status. The new proposed by-laws will be on the website soon, and this is included in those.

Heh - I'm not sure about the rules on that, but it's a nice idea. I don't think Mark was talking about the existing membership for GF & sister being "family" type though, since that's a new thing as well.

change

[/LIST]Sometimes change is good,it will make you realize how much you can miss something when you no longer have it... In your case it's just a car...or a MINI,and you can always come back to own another in the future and do it better...the 2nd time around....

im also curious as to how you are saving $110/mo. in car payments after buying a car that is more expensive than the MINI? the lexus starts at $35k...

tires wear out on all cars. you will be replacing them on your AWD vehicle just as often as your mini. more so if you don't rotate and balance them regularly. softer performance compounds wear out faster than harder ones. high performance = low treadwear life. nature of the beast.

Better deal this time away from BMW/MINI, good money for the MINI and money off the Lexus. All came together to save me $ on the car and some $ on my insurance

More pics of my new ride in first post. Part out sale coming soon.

Classy comment!

Enjoy your new car in good health. I have driven the IS350 and was thoroughly impressed.

I think you will find that a car can be reliable and solidly made and still have soul.

You know whats funny about that statement that I was going to let slide ... IS350 0-60 is about 5.6. Thats going to smoke ANY MCS

If I were in a MCS and saw as IS350 behind me ... I'd get out of the way.

You guys are too to funny. I got the IS250 AWD since the normal IS (250 or 350) is only RWD. I like the added AWD, it even helps in cornering and quick manuevers for someone used to the tightness of a MINI.

Hmm... how about this comparison in snow?

JCW with snow tires vs IS250 with all-seasons

AWD is great - but traction is more than just drivetrain.

Wait a while and...

Some tuner might even come out with a s/c for the IS.... But there is the question of whether the AWD on the IS can handle the additional output.... Isn't it fun to be able to mod your cars????

How about IS250 with snows to make it fair?

Then go hit a skidpad and see.

Anyone wanna guess the outcome?

BTW, I have NO idea how good or bad Lexus AWD may be. Since its not their strength (e.g., All Subies are AWD) who knows?

Of course... however the vast majority of car owners (of every brand) do not buy snow tires, they just use all-seasons, all year round.

Now, Mark might buy snows for his IS250... but I wanted to highlight that AWD alone does not a "snow dominating" car make. Two pieces to the puzzle, tires being the second. That's all!
