R50/53 Aero Kit questions!
Aero Kit questions!
I want to do an aero kit on my Cooper S, but I only want the side sills and rear valence. The front spoiler is just too low to the ground and I think it's going to cause issues with scraping.
My question is this. I want the side sills and the black plastic on the front valence to match the rest of the car (I want them painted). I have in the past used both wax and tire shine on them to get them all nice and shiney. I know this stuff is great when they're black, but the oils in the compounds means bad stuff for paint. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to ensure that i'm not going to have any problems in the future with chipping and cracking paint, or do I just need to buy some new trim pieces. Does anyone know how much the black plastic wheel well arches cost? And that black plastic piece on the lower side of the front bumper.

First, I installed an aero kit on my car. I have a very steep drive that if I didn't approach slowly the piece under the bumper would scrape. After installing the front aero bumper, there was not change. I would have to drive slowly to keep that piece from scraping.
What scrapes is a replacable piece of black plastic that hangs down behind and under the aero bumper.
Second, I have found that black wax shoe polish is best used for the black wheel surrounds. Not only does it last incrediably long, but it also does a better job protecting.
By all means, add the complete aero kit. I was amazed at how much better (IMHO) it looks, especially on the Cooper.
