Sorry, but it helped express my point. I have learned my lesson and will never excessively speed again. I beleive every Teenager like myself needs to at least be pulled to scare the s*** out of them
I learned a long while back its simply more cost effective to take my antics to the track (where I generally don't have to put up with the other idiots on the road) and have managed a through reform of my driving style.

But with a thread ike this, tis only a matter of time, IB4TL as these usually become a contest of I got a *** in a **; I see you clean up your post but it is truly a matter of time before someone else comes along and posts a very similar statement.

Fight It

Plead not guilty on the ticket. In NJ they usually drop the points (which add up and make your insurance go up and maybe you can lose your license if you get the maximum allowed). You usually have to pay Court costs and a hefty fine. But at least you don't get the points. Your insurance may go up anyway.

Why are so many people in here so uptight about a ticket? We all have had them I'm sure and if not you've been lucky. So there isn't one person that has never gone 70 in a 65? Not one person went 65 in a 55? If you have, you broke the law and I'm sure everyday one of you break the law. Why not try to not so much fight the ticket but try to get a reduction in points, fine and/or both? You learn from your mistakes and hopefully don't make them again.

I've never been on a forum where so many people BASH people who speed or have sped. Very interesting! Considering we own one of the quickest fun cars on the road today. Oh and by the way if you take your car to the track and MINI finds out you can have your warranty voided. Must be a lot of kettles that call the kettle black in here.

The guy makes a mistake and hopefully learns from it and gets bashed from his fellow NAM members. No need for the following quote since everyone has gone over the speed limit just the amount over may very.

I wish someone would lock the thread just so comments like this one can be avoided.

The judge will say, "GUILTY!"...and levy a stiff fine.

Do not "play" if not prepared to "pay". Incidentally, according to my GPS, my Cooper S' speedometer reads 2 mph higher than actual speed. The speedometer calibration would do nothing more than irritate the court. in the flesh needs to slow down a bit...or get a radar detector...or both!

I'd fight it. Just cause it's stupid not to. The fine will almost always AT LEAST get reduced and probably no points on your license or you're offered traffic school. In Miami, cops seldom show up to court. I'd call up a lawyer and take it to court.

Why does everyone always bash a person for speeding. I GUARANTEE that every single one of you was going over the speed limit today on the way to work, school, whatever. I bet all of you have rolled a stop sign, shyt I'm sure you prolly did it today. Unless you COMPLETELY stop at a stop sign, then merge up to observe the road, and then go, guess what you broke the law. Stop being so uptight, yeah maybe he did drive like a jackass but maybe he also learned his lesson. Regardless if he did or not, you should be helping him out not putting him down...

GO TO COURT...

This is right! I would say go to court and you have an excellent chance of the cop not showing up, from what I've heard (it must have been your unlucky day, when I lived there I never saw a single person get cited for a moving violation in Miami-Dade unless they were on the turnpike and FHP got 'em). The MDPD have far more serious things they need to worry about than showing up to court for a traffic ticket. Now if it was a Gables or Pinecrest cop, that is a different story.

As far as everyone bashing the poster, I also do not advocate breaking any law. But I also get the impression that he realizes the principle that if you break the law there are consequences. I think he's just asking for advice. The unfortunate fact is that he drives in a hostile driving environment where laws aren't well enforced, and the worst offenders are rarely held accountable. This causes law-abiding drivers to sometimes have to push the envelope in order to protect themselves from others' carelessness. in any case, be careful out there!

It's not a matter of "everyone speeds sometimes." We're not talking about going 75 in a 65. This guy got a ticket for going 64 in a 30. Big difference. 30mph zones are typically residential. So yes, have fun and enjoy every minute of motoring. But if you drive like a jackass and get a ticket for it, expect to get flamed.

Why is this thread still going? I was going 88 in a 25 going towards a movie theatre by the City Hall when suddenly, I saw a bright light and then I mysteriously materialized in a different time. It was like I went back to the future.

I've been up to 220kmph and it was so much fun. The only thing is that It was on the wonderful AUTOBAHN. I MISS THE AUTOBAHN!

Just so people know I don't think people are flaming him JUST for speeding, I think that it's becuase his doing over 30 mph over the speed limit and the fact that he does not seem to be showing any remorse for it. If you get a ticket then just pay it and quit trying to work the system. BS like this is why the system doesn't work half the time. Every time that I got a ticket I just payed it and went on with life. It's not the cops/courts fault that I was speeding or on the HOV, it's mine.

In VA just 20 over the speed limit is Reckless Driving. I know other states have similar laws but not sure of the exact ones. If in fact you were doing 30 over the limit just be lucky you were able to drive away and not get a ride away in the back of a squad car.

Wow, you mean to tell us that you actually took responsibility for your own actions? What a strange concept.

Half way through 2nd gear on an MCS is 34 mph, or so, which is only 4 over the limit. Sounds like even among his fellows, the poster has failed the straight faced test. Something for him to pay attention to. When you go to court, check out the judge's parking space. If he/she has a Mazerati or a JCW, you may get somewhere with your alibi

OK, I think this thread is done. It's going nowhere, and NAM Guidelines on legal issues are being skirted, at best. Locked.
