We don't care what anyone calls it. We drive our Mini and enjoy every moment in it.

please not this again. let me reiterate on this repost of a repost of a repost ad nauseum.
baby chickens cannot drive cars...they can't see over the dash, and their little legs are too short to reach the pedals.
and calling the S "the boy's model" is plain dumb. I've been driving an S for 4 1/2 years. Not only am I female, I'm probably old enough to be at least your mother!
no more of this, please! I'm begging you!

So no one thinks ....

comments like that should just be ignored since they obviously are childish in nature?

Strange. I'd have thought it rather lacking in self confidence and having a slight self esteem problem to actually post that you're concerned about what some immature people say about an inanimate object. Are you really so sensative about your sexuality that those comments make you write a post so thousands of people can know you have this slight problem.

Come on folks. Keep this stuff between you and your therapist.:impatient

It's a damned fun car! It in no way reflects how manly or womanly you are.

That'll be $400 please.

I don't consider my Mini a chick car, I consider it a GAY car. I'm a heterosexual male, but I have to admit that I drive a completely effeminate car, aesthetically speaking. Cars can definitely project a masculine or feminine persona, and there is no testerone happening for the Mini. But it is such a freaking blast to drive that I could care less.

It's like someone saying, "nice red shirt, is it your mom's? huh huh huh."

First off this is no way a flame or anything, I just want to explain myself a little better. We all know our cars are awesome and if we drove a big or flashy car that would be fine to, and we arent trying to compensate for anything. Although over the years its kinda been implied, or established, that guys driving big trucks or flashy cars either means they are having a mid-life crisis or compensating for something (wheather its a lack of personality or endowment, or other things) to bring in the ladies and get or hold their attention since they cant in other ways. Thats where that comes from. Doesnt mean its true but it certainly works when you are gong for an insult. My friend (guy in his 40's, construction u nion worker) drives a red MCS and has a sticker in his rear window that says "What Are You Compensating For?" and he gets all sorts of buys in big trucks and whatnot yelling at him all the time for it. It tends to only really offend the people that it actually applies to.

Try reading other car forums. Even in the OL they talk about the car being gay and a chick car. I've seen the references many times. Here is just one https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=67851 referring to "you got smoked by a CLOWN CAR"

The problem with that saying is that its very old and its a defense attempt ... simple as that.

Sure, some ppl buy expensive sports car in middle age crisis but not all ...

The comeback is simple

"Aerodynamics are for those who don't know how to build engines"

E. Ferrari

Which was he way of insulting the people running light cars, cars with better CDs because they could not build great engines. Its no different here. In my experience, jeolousy pay a large part for anyone bashing more expensive cars even if that middle-aged guy was looking for a young lady. Just wishing they were in the same situation.

That bumper sticker, while funny 5 years ago, isn't so funny anymore.

I totally get it, its just( kinda as Chows hinted) old. You start to hear it uttered so often that it really loses it humor and us even slowly growing into the same as the "Is that oyur girlfriends car?" line of talking. I don't want to play on the same level as someone who feels the need to belittle others.

And Chows the cars pulling out of my way as they see me approach in their rear view hardly had the "Cute car" look on their face( acutally happened today, my mere presene started having people move over)

And the snorting exhaust as I dropped a gear and roared past bwahahaha

I'm slowly working toward a blackedout JB Pirate theme, hardly "cute" but certainly head turning.

I couldn't really care less about what a few people in car forums say. They're not really looking at the car from a POV that the everyday person does. They're comparing it to their own car. And if that's all they've got, well, lets just mourn the passing of their civility and wit. Witty, we hardly knew ye.
The MINI is small. If this makes it a target, so be it. It's harder to hit small targets.

90% of the questions I get about my car are from men...... 1/2 of all the Porsches I see in Atlanta are driven by women.... never thought that Porsches were "chick cars"

You are not your car and your manhood is more defined in the bedroom than on the street..... your performance is much more appreciated there anyways

So now you have been enlightened.

BTW, its good you dont care ... then you dont need validation. However, since this topic comes up about very other week, it clear that others do.

Spider, you STILL "Da Man"

Actually, Boxsters are severely frowned upon by the many in the P-car forums as a chick car. Which is silly of course, but that is how its viewed by many.

I also see an approximatey 50-50 split of guys and girls driving.

Add to that I see Mini drivers ranging from teenage to 'old age'. Again a fairly even split.

Plus there is a decent split between black/white/asian/whatever I would say that 'white guys' are possibly the majority here, but its tough to say

Seems to me that there is no one demographic that either model appeal to.
Though I DO NOT believe an "S" is a "guys car" (I have an S and wouldn't have it any other way), I have noticed in general, that most of the owners of MINIs who belong to active groups are men (not all, but most) Which would go against the whole "that's a chick car" comment.
