Mounting FasTrak/other auto toll boxes

I know I've seen some mentions that you can mount the box on the sunroof in some invisible-to-the-naked-eye location. Can someone refresh my memory with a realllly good description of how they did this, and/or maybe post a picture or two? Normally I just keep mine in my glove box and pull it out when I need it, but it'd be nice if I could just mount it somewhere unseen and forget about it.

I just found this thing:

Anyone use/try it?

I've had trouble with Fastracks not being recognized by the scanner if they aren't by the rearview mirror. Having the white blob was sure ugly from outside, though, so I painted mine black. I used Krylon Fusion semi-matte black paint (especially for painting plastics) and then bought some black velcro. Not as clean as without, but a WHOLE LOT better than when it was white. I only painted the side that faces out and was careful not to get any paint into the little vent. I barely notice that it's there any more. Just a thought.

I have been stopped by the cops a bunch of times because I had my fastrack unit in a 'non authorized location'.

Apparently the unit shoudl not only be 'visible' to the sensors, but also visible to the CHiP.

More of an inconvenience than its worth, mine is now by the mirror and remains white / visible.

Don't mount it at all. As long as you throw it on the dash before you go through the Fast-Trak line and DO NOT HOLD IT OR LET IT MOVE as you pass the sensor, it will work. We take ours from car to car. The only time we have ever had a problem is when someone tried to hold the pass. That time we got a violation and called the Fast-Trak office. The violation was reversed and we were told that minute movements of the body and hands make it impossible for the sensor to get a fix on the pass when it is waved or held. However, a friend left hers in a purse on the dash and it still registered.

There was a thread that talked about something similar to this. Someone brought up using one of those plastic peelable stickers - stick the toll road sticker onto the peelable sticker and it is easily removable. I just did a search but couldn't find the thread again. Can anyone help?
