Yup....this guy gets it.

Rice is commonly used now to describe a car that is poorly modified...these are just heavily modified (in a very bright and flashy way) show cars that are meant to stand out.

Guess I was mistaken about "all show and no go" by looking at that list. I'm not sure how I missed the "GO" features...my mistake...But If I was going to spend that kind of $$$$ I would want a bit more GO....perhaps even the simplest of things....like a pulley perhaps? .Is that on there too and I'm missing it??? You think the "GO" add-ons might make the torque of the pulley alone....I dunno...would be a lot less $$ but I guess $$ is no object for the builder/ owner.

They are beautiful cars.

I wouldn't consider Wikipedia the end all for defining what a ricer is (Anyone that wants to can create a Wikipedia entry). I think we should just let each person have their own opinion and leave it at that...

These are well executed modified cars. Yes, the paint, spoiler, and other mods are aggressive....but anyone calling them RICE is cearly uneducated when it comes to cars.

Well in my area you are rice if your tin can costs $50 from autozone or $500 from a reputible honda tuner, It doenst matter how much it costs around here, if your car looks like it should be flying, then its rice.

What is your reasoning? Most race cars look like the could be flying...does that make them ricer?

No bids, I wonder why they would end this at 9 am? Think it has 2 hours left get your bid in.

Taking it to mythbusters...

Well i know justjay they have three MINI's on lot..watch it all the time.
I think mythbusters could determine Rice or not;
and these Fireballed cars are not all show and no go.

For all go back to the 2 page and read the list of options posted on both, I am sure you will change your Mind if you know anything about MINI's.

I sure Tim or one of his crew has been reading this and maybe will tap in.

I am showing the MINI Fireballed Fans here pics and options incase they want to have one of there own.

The amount of work that has gone into these is great by the least.

I will have to make a call to mythbuster soon...

As for the JCW intake, I'm not sure how many people consider that "aftermarket". I don't. When you look at the CARB site, it's listed under "BMW Group".

ALTA has recently gained CARB certification, from what I've heard.
OK, you got me on the Dinan, but he didn't say "aftermarket" so the JCW is still another intake they could have used.

Perhaps they do have pullies etc. However the dealership has to keep the warranty so I wouldn't expect anything TOO drastic in the go dept.

You guys are too funny....

Rice, no Rice, Potatos, Potaaatoes. All just makes me hungry!

But seriously, (if that's even possible) I'm just glad you guys find the cars interesting. It's true, they aren't for everyone. (Maybe no one since they haven't sold yet!!) but I just think they're frikkin' cool! And I'll keep doin' 'em as long as Mini wants us to. And there's a lot coming.

I think the important thing to keep in mind when you look at these is that they are inspired themes. As in I was inspired by the films they represent. Like the BMW Art Cars, I guess. And if doing these cars helps to inspire others to whack out their Minis (More or less than these) then it's cool. Just doin' my part to take over the world, one Mini at a time.

As for rice, I'll take mine with soy sauce.

That isn't rice at all.
Rice:
noun, verb, riced, ric‧ing.
–noun
1. the starchy seeds or grain of an annual marsh grass, Oryza sativa, cultivated in warm climates and used for food.
2. the grass itself.
–verb (used with object)
3. to reduce to a form resembling rice: to rice potatoes.
[Origin: 1200–50; ME ris, rys < OF < It riso, risi (in ML risium) < MGk orýzion, deriv. of Gk óryza]

There, that should clear that up.

To me, those cars are god awefull ugly. I wouldn't be caught dead driving something so over-the-top. Again, that's only my opinion. That look just isn't my cup of earl grey, but it is very well done.
The performance is there though. Under the hood, these are seriously fast cars that would be a blast to drive. It's not like the winning bidder can't repaint them.

Well, since my car is less than two months old, of course it's stock. That doesn't mean it's going to stay that way. Sheesh. :impatient :impatient
