It is hands down, the MOST bang you could get for your buck, in terms of raw horsepower. The base model is 230 hp in a 2,900 lb car (200 pounds heavier than the MINI). And, its MSRP is right around $20K. Amazing.

Welcome to NAM, Tourek. We're not all snobs when it comes to anything that does not have a foreign badge.
Sure, thanks for the warm welcome. I test drove various vehicles before I placed my order. Amongst them included a Crossfire, 350Z and a Legacy GT to name a few. You wouldn't believe what new '04 Crossfires were going for on the lots (trust me, they languish on avg. ~207 days and $10K off sticker was not uncommon). Beautiful car and all, but I don't trust Mercedes quality in the last few years. The 350Z just didn't trip my trigger on either of my 2 test drives. It just wasn't "fun", when compared to an '05 MCS I drove 15 minutes earlier (I believe someone mentioned something similar in another post) The Legacy GT was nice, but horrendous gas mileage.

By the way, in regards to 300 hp SRT's - They're plenty more with a whole heckuva lot more than that. That's just in reference to the factory/dealer installed kit.

I'm a car enthusiast, no matter what brand. No fanboism here. I have no loyalty just as long as a manufacturer produces what I want at a price point I feel comfortable with.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome all.

Doesnt take much to beat one. Well these kids near my house like to hang out all night every night at the Wendys parking lot.

H-Sport Adjustable Rear Sway
H-Sport Springs
H-Sport Adjustable Control Arms
Short Ram Intake
19% Supercharger Pulley Reduction
380cc JCW Injectors
One-Ball Exhaust Mod
GIAC ECU
Helix Short Shift Kit... MY mods

his mods.

Exhuast and intake.

So he was talkin **** on how bad he can beat me... i first for a second thought.. hmm well we might.. but altho they are around the same HP as a WRX with 227 HP, but i rip those up on the high way all day long..

so we did a launch. a 20 MPH Pull a 40 Roll and 70 to about 120ish

off the line we were dead even till he had to shift LMAO! gotta love first gear in the MINI. end of first i had 1/2 a car. buy the time i hit 72MPH in second gear he was in my left rearview a good 2 cars back.. AHAHA. from the 20 roll. I pulled again. 40 Roll same thing the gearing really is something 70-120 ish i had about 1 car and a half on him. Altho i am not a big fan of street racing, i had to prove my point. Same thing with G35's and 350Z's and S2000 off the line were pretty much even, but the power i put down and the gearing is just an amazing combination. then after i get the respect. THese BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 really get me off the line with out much spin at all when i feather at 4500 RPM... i need to run some 1/4's soon...

I feel the Neon is a faster car, but so? Many other cars are. As far as style, that's a matter of taste. I think there's nothing particularly attractive, or unattractive about it. It is so bland.Bedsides being quicker in acceleration, it is also quicker in decelleration:

Construction is simply not comparable.

Our car was meant to be an entry level luxury car...performance was/is secondary to it's development contrast that to the STI, EVO or the SRT-4. I wish that BMW would truly build a 300 hp version from the factory with warranty etc....don't hold your breath. A "M" version of the MINI.....please don't bring up JCW.
I agree here 100%.

Well if you do crash, atleast you save yourself embarassment in a Neon. See, in a MINI, you crash, you go home and everyone laughs at you, in a Neon, you crash, you die, and you can't hear the people laughing at you.

MCS vs SRT-4

Me And My Neighbor, Who Has A Dodge Neon Srt-4 Leave For Work About The Same Time Every Morning. His Car Is Slightly Modified While My Cooper S Is Fairly Modified. He Is Always Kidding Me About My Little Cooper Since I Traded My 350z In For It. So One Of My Goals Is To Smoke His Dodge. We Have A Fairly Twisting Road From Our Development To I-81 Which Is About 7 Miles Long. I Seem To Be Able To Make Up Ground On Him Thru The Twisties, But In The Straights I Cant Keep Up. Looks Like I Need Some More Mods. Just A Little Story I Thought I Would Share.

for 1,000 he can make 300whp... you will be hard pressed to keep up with the srt-4 in a straight line... its been talked about before... alot...twincharge if you want the most hp in your mini... realizing that the interior, ergonomics and NVH quality are a thousand times better than the rental neon, as well as the looks, makes the disparity between straightline performance a little easier to swallow... oh and get your friend to race you in twisties first

This has been discussed countless times before. Do a SEARCH. Here is just one thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=srt4

and you might get a lot more response if you don't capitalize every letter:impatient because it makes it too hard to read.

The SRT-4 is no slouch thats for sure. Dodge offers A LOT of MOPAR performance parts for this car. The new caliber will be getting the SRT package and be AWD...look for that beast very soon.

Ok, this might be a crazy thought, but will the SRT-4 motor fit in the MINI?

With a 50 shot of nitrous you would walk all over him. It's the least expensive way. Twincharging would be the next cheapest. Or you could go all out with a turbo only conversion...

For serious power numbers, wait a couple years until a vendor comes out with a reliable single turbo conversion kit. I'm sorry to say, unless you are nitroused, twincharged, or single turbo, you can never beat a lightly modded SRT-4 straight line acceleration.

There is a guy in my Ohio State University car club has a 2005 SRT-4. He has intake, 3'' exhaust, wastegate actuator, apexi boost controller, larger injectors, and blow off valve. At 19 psi he dynoed at 289 whp...

It's against NAM guidelines to give anymore detail about this story, but it's quite interesting how my supercharged MCS with a strong linear powerband does against a turbo with a weaker powerband but more top end hp....
