I was just wondering if anybody knew if the faceplate to the speedometer (traditional center) comes off. I'm getting dust behind the faceplate and also behind the faceplate to the auto climate control. Not sure how it's happening.

I know many instructions to the MINI are "it just pops off", but I thought I'd ask before I tried something like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure they come off. Other people are replacing the speedo dial graphic. Search some of the forms and you should find an answer.

 

It does come off. I removed a couple screws under the trim in the speedo area (sorry for lack of detail here). Then the plastic dash trim pops off with a bit of a fight. Then the entire speedo unit has 4 screws holding it on. Once you remove those, the entire unit comes out, and you can unclip it from the wiring harness. I seem to remember the clear plastic cover falls off at this point pretty much by itself!
