R50/53 You just won't believe this!
I finally got my new Mini this afternoon. (Saturday, 5:00PM). On the short drive home (about 3 miles), I noticed a little yellow light that came on. When I got home, I got out the Owner's Manual and guess what? It's the flat tire indicator. Sure enough, a huge screw is deeply imbedded in my front right tire!!!!!!!! The dealorship is closed tomorrow (Sunday). What are my options for getting my 'run flat' tire fixed at a local tire store? I called Mini Roadside assistance, and they told me to wait until Monday and take it back to the dealership. I'm really new to all of this - help me out - is that really my only choice? Will local tire stores just not know what to do with a run flat tire with a screw in it? Any creative ideas?
I was in your exact situation (flat tire on the weekend) I had to take my flat to the tire shop. The dealer said that flat tires are not covered under warrenty and anybody can do the same job. I had to pay for it, about 10 bucks.
One thing to consider is that those runflat tires have very stiff walls and the rims have a strange offset. I watched the guy do it and he was having a tough time getting the the tire on and off the rim.
