R50/53 Potential Mini Buyer...I Have a Few Questions
No mark-up at Mini of Murray. Just a hefty deposit. They have been very friendly to me. Nick is who i ealked to. They'll spec your car to your liking and just charge MSRP. No prob with selling out of state.
>>I'm debating whether or not I want to purchase an MCS next spring or summer so I thought I might take my questions to those who have experienced it...you guys.
>>
>>1. I live in Utah. Does anybody know what the current markup is around my area?
There is NO dealer markup at MINI of Murray on MINI Cooper or MINI Cooper S. They also do NOT put any dealer add ons on it either.
>>2. How are the 1/4 mile times, skidpad, and other performance tests?
According to Car & Driver: 0-60 in 7 flat. Skidpad I forget, but it was one of the top 2 in its class. braking was first in class.
>>3. Since I'm looking to get one in the spring, do you think the "frenzy" will have died down by then?
I think the current wait for a MCS in Utah is about 9 months or so right now.
>>4. What can I expect to pay for aftermarket performance add-ons? Will they be priced higher because of the Mini being a BMW?
Aftermarket pefermance parts are just now starting to be released... more to come. Check out gotmini.com, mossmini.com amonth many others.
>>5. Reliability is my main concern. Should I go off of BMW's track record for reliability?
Reliability is impossible to gauge as its a new breed. But be assured by the kick butt warranty that comes with the car.
>>6. How about handling in the snow? Since it's from a family of rally cars, I'd assume it handles pretty well.
I'm hoping it works well in the snow here... it is front wheel drive.
>>7. My ideal MCS would have the sport and premium package. It would be silver with white mirrors and roof. Would eventually like to drop it a little (and I mean a little) and put some larger wheels (maybe 18s).
18 wheels in utah with the huge gutters would DESTROY your car! 17s I got on mine will be pushing it. 2 of the reps I talked to have bent their 17s on utah gutters and such. Plus I saw someone already with 18s, they said it road very rough and it looked terrible.
>>
>>I know I have more questions, but if any of you could help me answer some of these I would appreciate it.
I'm a local SLC guy... my MINI Cooper S will be here in 3 weeks. I answered your questions above in your quote.
