R50/53 Head Turning Syndrome revisited
I realize that this topic has been treated before but I was really caused to notice the famed Head Turning Syndrome today.
We took a two hour trip north on I-95, going from Baltimore to Media, PA. My wife drove so I was able to spend more time than usual looking around. I was absolutely amazed at the number of people who turned to look at Frau Blüecar as we drove past them. Dozens of them!
Little kids invariably looked and pointed. A couple of Honda Civics with young dudes passed and got all animated over the MINI. People in SUVs, vans and cars of all types swiveled their head either slightly or full around. Some smiled. Some waved. (The folks in the BRG/B MINI honked, smiled and gave the thumbs-up :smile
I noticed that nobody in a "superior" vehicle, such as a Mercedes, BMW or Lexus, gave the MINI any notice. Neither did those in Hummers, Land Rovers or things of that ilk. There were people who looked like they wanted to turn and look but were constrained by their dignity.
All in all, it was a lot of fun for somebody who has spent much of his life trying not to attract too much attention. Of course, some of the head-turning could be attributed to my wife, who is rather striking.
BTW: I rode the first leg in the trip in the back seat. It was a comfortable as the back seat of our Civic.

I get the same thing everywhere I go. Nearest dealer is approx 4hrs away. I'm in a smaller city, so there's like a couple MINI's around. It's almost getting to the point of where I need to hire a body guard to protect my MINI while I go in the store. A few people every now and then get too close.
What's kinda cool also to do, is get someone to drive your MINI while you drive in another car amd follow it. Looks neat to see it in motion, accelerating, cornering, etc. Than ya get to see it from others' prospective.
Cheers
