in my one week and 1500 miles, I have avg. between 24.7 and 30.1 MPG according to the OBC with mixed driving and during breakin under 4k shifting.

Well I reset my mileage today, drove to work then drove back. I averaged about 20 mpg.. and was consciously trying to drive very conservatively. (FYI I drive a manual).

My average speed is usually somewhere around 21 mph when I average 17.1 MPG.. today the average speed was a bit higher.

To work and back is only a few miles so it wasnt a huge measurement. Most of the way was stop and go, but there was some long stretches.. (no freeway though).

What would you guys suggest for better mileage? I am using premium gas, and trying to drive the stick without waisting gas between shifts (Im not even sure if that really affects anything, but I have always felt like it does)

Thanks!

I just did the calculations. I have 13674 miles on my '05" MCS JCW. I've burned 521.28 gallons of gas so my average is 26.23 mpg. The OBC which has never been reset says I'm getting 27.0 mpg. That seems pretty accurate to me!

My mph average is 18.1 per the OBC. I did manage to break my previous record and get 34 mpg on a recent trip. For that I kept the speed under 70 mph, mostly highway with an occasional small town to pass through. I took it easy on the ramps, which was hard but heck, I was going for a record.

I reset my odometer and got myself upto 26.5 mpg, which was ever so exciting...I then got caught in traffic and saw it drop back down to 24.7 in just a few minutes....

Argh!

Good to hear that I'm not the only one wondering. Because Jake is so fun to drive (an MCSa) I kind of like to say "Whatever!" And I know when I kick down a gear (love the Agitronic paddles) it has to suck some gas but man, can he fly! Wahhh-hooo!

I did the "conservative" driving thing to try and improve MPG but living in Phoenix...even in September...the A/C has to drag down even further.

Here are my stats without avg. MPH:

Total miles 1751 (only had him since 8/23)

Did part of leg of MTTS and that first tank I got 35.3 (average speed had to be 65+)

My mostly highway/some city was very close to 25 MPG (mostly with air and no cruise 'cause it was during break-in).

My first two tanks of Phoenix city driving (I drive about town a LOT - self-employed computer tech) were 19.6 and 20.7. That's when I went .

But the 19.6 tank involved some AGRESSIVE driving so I deserved that. Then I scaled back and got a whole MILE more per MPG.

I've wondered how much the "auto" A/C sucks gas over setting it manually. Anybody have an ideas, thoughts, opinions on that? The weather is finally breaking in PHX so I should get a better idea soon. Thank you lawd!

After driving for a few days conservatively (though not driving very much at all), I am at around 18.5 mpg. :( sad.

But I realize I use the automatic air conditioning every time I drive. I enjoy rolling down my windows and sun roof and going at it, so I might give that a shot.

I average 25 with 91 octane driving my 05 S bone stock around the city. However, I just returned from a 1300 mile road trip to the wonderful state of Wyoming. My average speed was 61 mph, and got just over 31 mpg on the trip. Yet if it were not for my periods of uh,exuberance on those long flat empty stretches with antelope as the lone hazard, well, I'd wouldve averaged about 33 And this is with a lot of mountains and hills (and those flat stretches.... )

Oh and rarely did my RPM drop below 2500...

17 mpg seems awfully low, I'd have your car checked, could be a cracked SC intake or something on that order.
