R50/53 Long Beach Mini's wait list...
Been lurking for a while but this is my first post.
We're on the waiting list with LongBeachMini and their wait on the MCS is about 12 months. However, just read another post where someone felt they were jerked around and bypassed. Obviously the point of waiting is to pay only MSRP with a 'nearly' local dealer rather than go out of state.
Questions:
1. How many here ORDERED the MCS from LongBeach Mini and actually got it.
2. And is there pressure to order any extras? We just want the basic stock MCS with perhaps one small upgrade.
Thanks,
Miniless (currently)

We ordered our 'S' from Long Beach MINI, no money down, bought at MSRP, (our second MINI at MSRP from them, BTW). Thanks, Matt!! We waited some, but that was a known quantity. If they wanted to sell it out from under us, they could have made a pretty penny, but they're downright upright...they called us to come get it and waited a day or so till we could make the drive up from San Diego. This particular MINI was loaded, by choice, but I know many happy owners who from the Long Beach stable who didn't have a lot of extras. The wait seems to vary somewhat, but we were extremely well treated, and I recommend them highly.

The whole process has been nothing but good and I highly recommend LB MINI to you! They don't require a deposit and are the only dealership in SoCal that sells at absolute MSRP...thus, the wait.
You may find an S somewhere else by calling around the country. Quite a few folks who didn't want to wait a year have done that and flown to distant cities and driven back their new babies for a fun engine break-in adventure! Go to MINIUSA.com and find the lists of dealerships and start calling around. And, from time to time, someone doesn't take delivery of their MINI for whatever reason (financial?), so call a lot and visit the LB website to see if anything comes up close to your specs!
Good luck!
Cheers!

Hey there,
I got on a waiting list at Long Beach July 2, 2002. I wanted an S with the HK stereo so it was going to be a little longer, but I was supposed to be on the October order. When October came around, it seemed their allotment from the factory went down, and I didn't get to make my order. At one point I got an email from Alley apologizing for the situation and thanking me for my patience. Not long after I spoke to her and she said she would understand if I tried another route. As you can imagine, I was very frustrated but I never felt like I was being jerked around. Matt and Tony and Alley are very nice and seem very trustworthy, just way too busy, as you can imagine. I was on the verge of flying to Memphis to buy a car from Roadshow, when I found out I could order at the end of last month. I finally put my order in at LBM last week and am waiting for a production date. I should get the car the first week of June, 11 months after getting on the list. As you can imagine, I am READY FOR THIS CAR!! To sum up, you won't get jacked around, but you will wait about a year.
Cheers,
Craig
