That's correct Boneman. The rain sensing windshield just has the blacked out area around where the mirror attaches.

You guys that had it replaced under warranty are lucky, I was so POd when the clear stress crack (up from center and to the right) was not covered on our 400 mile old car and they wanted some crazy amount to replace it. Anyway, I've gone over that before, but just want to reiterate that at least the none dealer PPG replacement has been great, better quality glass for sure. Also, we installed the edgeguard film around the edges of the windshield to help prevent stress fractures and it seems to be good stuff. I got it via Auto Paint Guard, a vendor, but I do not see it on their site anymore, you may want to ask.

Maybe in places like NY it happens more cause if you hit a hole hard enough you top out the suspension and that hits the frame and the front struts are right under the lower corners of the windshield, possibilty?

Has there ever been a resolution to this?

Went out yesterday 8/21/06 to go to work and I couldn't believe my eyes, am I dreaming maybe I didn't get it fixed??? the crack came right back exactaly the same spot. I called Niello they said bring it down again and they would replace it. They have been great, but a 4 hour drive each way, I guess it's cheaper than paying for the windshield. Anyone else having this problem? Oh by the way the car is only 5 months old.
This is scary...I just walked by my car to take the trash out, and I noticed I have this same exact crack!!! Right down the center from the top, about 4-5 inches down, the turns towards the passenger side. No rock chips or anything in the windshield. Has anyone had any problems getting the dealer to replace this, or do they usually take care of this with no problems?

44k had run-flats for 24k then switched to low-profiles for the last 20k drive in Chicago, home of the famous deep-dish pot hole, on an MCS (sport) suspension. I've had several occasions where the roads have been bad enough for me to hit my head on the ceiling.

Still on original stock windshield, no cracks or chips.
