I've searched thru old CVT posts and can't find what I'm looking for so please excuse another CVT question.

I'm in my breakin period (just picked it up last Saturday). Is it O.K. during the breakin period to put the CVT in SportMode? I'm just putting it in SportMode, I'm not using the steptronic yet. I'm thinking about waiting until the breakin period to use steptronic.

The tranny seemed a little herky jerky a couple of times and SportMode just feels better with the extra pick up.

So, is SportMode without steptronic O.K. during the breakin period???

Thanks.

hey there. we did not use the sport mode until we passed 1000 miles. it kicks up the RPMs and that's bad for a new engine. be patient -- it will give the engine a longer life.

i literally kicked it over to sport as soon as the od crossed 999.9 though...

if it feels jerky you made need the software update if the ddealer somehow missed that. it fixed the jerky feeling in ours. have fun in your new mini!

Agree with silkgreen. Why push it, and it will give you something else to look forward to in a short time.

I went the whole break-in without sportmode, just in case. I use it almost all the time, now except when I'm on the freeway. I use the shift option often as well, and sometimes I take off the DSC, but that's just cause I need that classic Mini feeling now & then. Be gentle.
