Future Cats They're definitely the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned, they fit like a glove.

Those are the shoes I was talking about in my last post. I don't think they have too much rubber on the soles, it actually seems to be much thinner than most Piloti's and some of the others posted. You may have a different style though, I would reccomend these though!

from your experience, are the sizes pretty consistent among the different
piloti shoe models?

Those GoodYear's look pretty neat though!
I could not justify $150 for a shift ****. That's why I bought it here in the Marketplace for much less . I use my shiftknob every day. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my driving shoes .

And the Adidas (not Goodyears, they only supply the sole) do feel great. I was set on green shoes for my green MINI.

Sperry Topsiders (Blue and White), when I'm not working and it's above 60 degrees. For cold weather just my comfy Rockports w/ socks.

On those unfortunate days when I have to go to WORK, (12 hr shifts 182 times a year) I'm wearing steel toed Wolverine Durashock safety shoes. Not good for driving but eh, what can I do...

Does the reinforcement on the lateral side of the right shoe really make a difference on the Pilotis? I not liking their designs too much, the Monacos are O.K.. I like the look of the Pumas better, but if the Pilotis perform better with the reinforced side, I guess I can overlook the Piloti designs.

Currently I have a pair of Adidas Samba. They're great for driving.

I recently got 2 pair of the Reebok Evolution Low for dirt cheap . I have a drive up to Boston in a couple weeks. Looking forward to it.

I've got the Piloti Spyder SV, which I like quite a lot. They're comfortable and supportive enough for regular tasks outside the car (i.e., drive to someplace, walk around for a while running errands; or when washing the car; whatever), and also good for driving. I wouldn't want to go hiking in them, or walk many, many miles, but for everyday use they're fine.

I did find a local place to try them on first, though. I tried on a couple of other pairs of Piloti that just didn't feel right; but the Spyder SV did. The store didn't nearly have their whole range in stock, though, so I didn't get an extensive sampling. But if you can find a local place to try them on, they're great shoes.

I used to barefoot many years ago, but driving English cars in the Stinking Desert kinda pushed me to some kind of tennies over the years - usually Adidas Tobaccos, until they stopped makin' 'em. They had a nice thin sole, and were fairly light, but when Puma came out with their featherweight bicycle shoes, I bought a bunch of those on sale, even tho they were VERY colorful - almost hideously so, actually. When Speed Cats came out, that was it, had to have 'em - round heels and form fitting. I usually buy only the B&W, but I have a nice dark blue pair, too. I've got enough of 'em in the past few years, I can rotate usage so they don't wear out hardly at all. Look for 'em online when they're on special sales at Puma's store, and sometimes at Puma Stores in various malls. They can just fit my moderately wide feetsies, thank God! I'm not a real Piloti fan, the pairs I've tried on aren't my cup of tea, 'spose.

My fave is a pair of smooth black leather Speed Cats with a black suede Puma flash - they remind me of the shoe I really want - the almost un-attainable Chapal Chaussures de Pilote:
http://www.chapal.fr/collection/?function=detail&id=61 - talk about expensive! - the REAL F1 drivers boot from the '50s and '60s. Watch the movie "Grand Prix" - every racer had 'em on, and Chapal still makes 'em. I really can't justify $500.00 or so, but they would be sublime - 'specially with a nice, new Chapal crash-helmet, like Fangio wore, except it would be dark green, o'course.

BCNU,
Rob in Dago

I have several pairs of Piloti's. The "Monaco" (pictured in a previous post) happen to be my current fave.

Sounds great, I'm pumped and ready to hit the road. I purchased from Midwestern Mini in Dublin and will make the 3 hour trip home after pick up on Friday. Does that sound pre-planned?

Just got 'em on Thursday! Had to drive 2 hours up to Sterling to get to the closest place that actually had them cause I was really hesitant to buy shoes mail order (who knows if they'll fit, right?) The Chuck Taylor low tops just weren't cutting it anymore. I've only driven with them once, but so far I'm pretty happy with them. Really light and comfortable, almost like slippers. And the wife thought they were pretty sweet too!

They're not $500. They're 500 EUROS! That's $630 US!
