I'm in my final 2000 miles of warranty. I have an '03 Auto Standard Mini. I need a list of things that I should really be keeping an eye on. I know we all love our cars but they are cars and things break. What tends to break on these cars?

Last week they replaced the steering column, put a new battery in (a surprise), and reprogramed the computer (not sure what issue they were addressing).

Those of you with autos when I tend to "poke" around (parking lots etc.) the car seems not real smooth. Normal? Could you please enlighten me on mini auto behavior?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

 

I can only answer the "poke around" question and yes, that is normal. All MINI's "studder," but the auto's are worse.

The MINI is a very torquey vehicle. I have the auto, and it does "hop" in parking lots.

Keep an eye out for rust, rattles, and leaks.

 

You can always take and have a diagnostic done first before your warranty is up. If you have 3A, they have services and it ranges from about $70-$80 bucks. Seems to cheap to find a potiential problem!
