R50/53 Cooper rolled down driveway...
Sorry guys, I've been a little preoccupied.
I'd really appreciate it if we could drop the obvious comments about leaving a car in gear, it's something I usually do. On the rare occasion I don't, this happens. Shouldda done it, I'd give anything to go back and do it, but it's done.
That said... the parking brake should hold the car. Putting it in gear and turning into the curb are wise safety backups to setting the parking brake.
It took 48-hours to get someone out to free my car. NW Mini sent someone after Mini Roadside assistance (AAA) wouldn't touch it. We jacked it up and drug the rock out, then towed the Mini straight to the dealership yesterday.
They looked at it today and report that they "can't find anything wrong with the parking brake, you must not have set it all the way." Well, when I parked the car I set the brake... it wasn't moving when I got out, 20-minutes later it was down my driveway. We have two sets of facts that don't agree.
I've read that there is a service bulletin on this, but I haven't been able to find it. If anyone can dig that up that might help clarify the facts. This is a known issue, but the service manager I'm dealing with is trying to play dumb saying he's never heard of this kind of problem before.
So, up the ladder... his boss will be calling me next.
