In the MINI unwrapped CD it says if you hold the toggle switch for the locks up it will automatically roll down the windows and and sunroof. Mine does not work. Did my dealer not program that for me or is anyone else having the same problem. It is under R for "really convenient feature" on the CD. Thanks

I believe the dealer needs to program that for you... You may (also depends if its programmed) be able to open the windows and sunroof if you have one, by holding down the unlock button on your keyfob...

Ya I think you have to have it programmed, as I can open my windows/sunroof with my key button, but can't do it with the unlock toggle switch inside the car.

It may only work if you have the remote programmed to do the same thing or you may need a newer software version. Have a look at the current list of dealer programmable options. In the very likely event that your dealer tells you they don't know how to do anything and wants you to help them wipe their ***, tell them to print out the options from your car. They can hook it right up to a printer and get a list of options like the list I linked above.

I remember the MINI unwrapped CD said that you can hold the key in the door, in the lock position, to lock and roll up the windows/sunroof. I have found this to be useful on a couple of occasions. Before I found that feature, I had to get back into the car and put the key into the ignition and then roll them up with the toggle switches.

Just tried mine, if the key is in the on position, the unlock toggle will indeed drop the windows and open the sunroof. My MINI had a Jan. '03 build date. Unfortunately, the opposite doesn't occur: toggle button held in lock position won't close windows and sunroof, which you can do be holding your key over in the door until everything closes. Too bad, as this would be a very nice convenience feature.

Looks like we are on our way to the dealer sometime this week. Thanks vespa that list is great. I did not know about the unlock with parking break feature, that is a must...

Mine works both on remote and door lock switch. Funny thing, I never asked my dealer to program anything and they also told me they didn't have time to program anything (b/c I picked it up right after it arrived!).

That would be really annoying for me! I use the hand break all the time (when stopped! ) . I learned to drive in the UK and it's treated as part of the regular controls there. The funny thing is I live in florida where the roads are flat. most of the time I don't need to use it! Just habit I guess.

The handbrake doesn't do a thing. The door unlock is related to the key. If this option is active, when your doors are locked, they'll automatically unlock when you turn the key to the off position. Yes, it's a must have. I believe that one needs to have the companion feature for this to work, where the doors automatically lock once the car reaches 10 mph. Also a great safety feature. I wouldn't want to be w/out either.

DONT COUNT ON IT.
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHERE THIS "UNLOCKING WHEN HAND BRAKE PULLED UP" COMES FROM, BUT THERE IS NO SUCH FEATURE. THE LOCKS CAN BE PROGRAMMED TO UNLOCK WHEN SHUTTING OF THE ENGINE BUT THATS IT.

i love MCO

everytime i read about a feature, i go and check my car, and alas it has it, and i learn something new about the car

i love the toggle up switch inside to open everything. since i have dark tint, thats the best button to use, to roll the windows down in a hurry

FMS,
YOU CAN HAVE BOTH THE AUTO LOCK FEATURES EITHER ONE ON OR OFF. THEY DONT HAVE TO BE ON TOGETHER OR OFF TOGETHER.

Thanks, KOOMOFO. Wasn't sure on the independence of these two funcions. I love hearing the locks go down when I hit 10 mph, and likewise, hearing everything open up when I turn off the car- kind of like a built in butler
