Sometimes when I close the driver side door on my MINI,I end up with a window gap.The trailing top edge of the door window will get caught on the bottom edge of the black molding that surround the roof cap.The gap is big enough to stick your small finger in between the window and the rubber seal. When I get up to speed,I will notice the wind noise from the resulting gap.I usually just go down and back up with the window to effect a tight seal.Does anyone else have this happen at times?

Sounds like you need to re-calibrate (reset?) the window ... I have read about this but can't find any thread just now.

It is something like:
hold switch while window goes all the way down
hold switch while window goes all the way up
keep held for 5s extra
...

yep (sort of):
I think it's a very common problem that the window motors 'get out of sync'.
Normal operations for the window motors involves the window to be lowered by a small amount (maybe 1 cm) when door is opened, to facilitate closing of the door. Then, when door is closed, the window is cranked up fully.
Occasionally, the settings for this down-up on door opening appear to become confused. At other times, this down-up appears to stop working entirely.
When the down-up does not occur, the symptoms you describe will happen.

As iancull posted, you need to reset the windows by entering the car. Open the windows completely (with door closed!). Close window completely and hold window up button for an additional few seconds.
I am trying to get an idea when this confusion of the window setup occurs. So far, it has happened to me twice, and both times after running the car through the carwash. I will keep track of this.
Cheers!

Yep..that happened to me when I was test-driving a Mini last week.
I thought I'd damaged it! The dealer came out and just pushed
the window till it snapped back into place. Hmmm.
