R50/53 I have a fix for cold start problems!
For everyone with a Cooper S, if you have a problem starting the engine when it's cold, there is a simple fix! When you turn the key into position 2 (not starting), you'll hear something resembeling a hiss, or a little electric motor running... Once this stops, step on the clutch, and start it up... Works every time .
That is what you should do with any fuel injected car. The fuel injectors need a certain amount of pressure to opperate and the pump has to cycle up to get that pressure.
I think for some people this will solve their problem but for other people it sounds like that have some kind of ignition/computer problem to work out.

I've tried that and it DOES seem to help. It doesn't work every time. My Dealers service man says there's a software fix forthcoming, however he's not real optimistic about it being a total cure. MB
