R50/53 The "My MINI has Never Been Through an Automatic Car Wash" Club
Hmm, I've never taken my car to an auto wash. I use either the spray it yourself wash around the corner or my driveway. The dealer has washed it on its two service appointments, but since it has a roofrack, I'm sure they couldn't run it through their auto stall, so I'm claiming membership.
Why on earth would you ever use an automatic car wash? <shudder> That's MINI abuse! Nothing but the finest hand washing detailing supplies for my baby!
Slightly off topic and yet amusing detailing story: I was killing time before a local autocross event and decided to use a little detailing spray to take the bugs off the front of the car. Some wag came walking by and muttered something about this being an autocross, not a car show. In a rare moment of quick witted response, I replied, "You've never seen Roger Penske unload a dirty car, have you?"

....let me guess what he said next....Nothing!
My Mini "Floyd" has never been washed by anyone other than me. Well, maybe someone @ the dealer before I took delivery. But, that was before I "owned" it so I am still eligible right?
I was even out there this weekend washing it in 100+ heat. My neighbors thought I was crazy. And man did I sweat like a pig. But, my MCS look sreally good right now. I love how my car looks after a good wash.
Then after the wash was finished up, I installed my Aux input.
It was a hard core Mini weekend for me.

I'm deffintly in this club, I was my car by hand with the best products I can find. First I was and dry the monster, then I clean the JCW brakes so they stay red with no brake dust build up then I clean the wheels and tires. This is like a weekly ritual some times twice because I hate bugs building up on the front.

If I were a car enthusiast back when I got married as much as I am today I would ask that very question.

I'd like in too, it's a family thing for me as I get my son out and tell him hand washing is the only way to go.
Finally a nice day in Chicago, so after breakfast, guess what I'll be doing....yup, washing "Bessy" and today I'll be celebrating freedom from never driving through a automatic carwash!!
Also a shout out to our Military personnel! Keep it up, you have my support!

Bercilak has never been through an auto car wash. Rinsed by the dealer once or twice, and rinsed by me once or twice in a self-serve carwash. (Spray only, no nasty brushes!). Otherwise it's been just Mother, Meguiar and me in the driveway.

we're in...
we've only had the mcs for a few weeks, but washed it thrice and zaino'd it twice. only use zaino products (except the first time, used dawn to strip the wax). will treat the mcs the same way we did the 330ci - no wax, no car washes, no dealer washes...
