How has this not been locked down yet?

And for those who think that LIDAR is undetectable you're wrong, I had a detector ($175 Cobra, bought on sale for $120 3 years of use no radar/lidar based tickets, only needed to use the LIDAR feature a few dozen times though, where the RADAR went off about every 20 minutes with valid speed traps) that caught it a bunch of times, the key is not going so fast that you can't make sure you're at/near the limit when the warning goes off .

The key for me now is track time, since I changed to that attitude 1 ticket the officer made up the offense and lucked out when I decided to pay instead of fight and incur 5x time the cost because I had since relocated out of state.

Because, I believe, virtually all posts have been about mundane, every day tickets ... none in the reckless driving range.

However, it is a bit silly in that ... "you got caught" Not so sure that something to be proud of ... it would seem to me its would be more worthy or discussing "those that got away"

Haha! I found myself laughing pretty hard after reading that one. I think you win...

As for me...1 ticket 83 in a 60 with probably less than 1000 on the odometer, but only paid $90 and another $25 for defensive driving, and the thing is not even on my record anymore. However, it certainly taught me a lesson...no more speeding for me .

Meh.
Hey, that's in my neck of the big flat straight smells like cow manure non-existent woods. I'm in Clovis NM. I was stopped for 70 in a 55... went to court but the officer didn't.

Hadn't had a speeding ticket in 6 years. Bought the Mini in late Feb. 06 and have been expecting, even deserving, of one. In April I was driving my 2001 Exterra, which is so gutless I never thought speeding was a option, and got a ticket for doing 67 in a 55. The "over the limit" part of the fine was small (around $60.00) but court costs were $157.00. Overall it would have cost me over $200.00 but my brother in law was friends with the county clerk. Ya, I agree it's not right, but if you could use connections to get out of a ticket wouldn't you?

To the owner who illegally parked in 2 handicapped spots, hope they fined you double. I also don't like door dings, scratches, etc. that's why I park where there is space, at the far end of the lot, and actually walk to the store entrance. It burns me to no end when people, who are perfectly fit, park in handicap spots. They are there for a reason. What the **** makes you so special?

To the website monitor. I have never posted anything that could be determined as offensice before. If you feel the need to delete my previous paragraph (or even ban me from the site) I understand.

I just got number 2

I just got my second ticket in the MINI tonight. Although it was just because my left brake light was out... It was the classic "do you know why I pulled you over?" Well... I knew I wasn't speeding since I saw the cop, so I had no idea. Then he told be it was because of the brake light. How was I supposed to know that?? What a dumb question to ask. 'Yeah sure officer, I could see from sitting in my car that my brake light was out. And you know what?? I am doing it on purpose!' Oh well... I'll fix it in the morning.

Our first ticket in our mini came 2 nights ago, when we were out on our daily night drive. But not for speeding, but for our front 2 windows being tinted!
Guess we were at the wrong place at the wrong time

My first ticket in 30 years! (OK, so I've been lucky.)
Southbound Rt. 5 coming into Calif. from Oregon has a lot of curves that a MINI can easily cruise though well above the posted limit. I was crusing with a knot of vehicles, about the 3rd car from the lead (I'm not out to prove anything). We were coming down-hill around a sweeping right turn when everyone seemed to slow down just a bit. Well, I'm a bit slow in someways myself, and the turn seemed just too easy for the reduced speed of the pack, so I passed. Bingo! The road straigntens out after this final curve, and there was the black-and-white. I'm sure its a well know trap to the locals. Its just north of Shasta Lake. Watch out, if you're in the area.

*Fingers crossed*

I felt the same way until yesterday. I was hit with radar doing 54 in a 35 MPH zone. I was passing a retarded driver who kept hitting his breaks; they were either on their cell phone or lost or both. I have been driving 22 years and this is my 1st ticket. I plan on appearing in court to debate the ticket since there were no speed limit signs in the area that I was pulled. It was a 6 lane hwy (3 going each way). I still cant believe it was a 35 MPH zone.

I've been pulled over twice in the last 2 weeks. Annoying as I'm only maybe 5 over the limit. I think they just like to get a closer look at the wheels and interior. Never happens to me in my truck.

The MINI gets more attention some good some bad, just make sure not to talk yourself into a ticket.

Haven't received a ticket YET. Although, I'm really surpriced that it hasn't happened. I don't know what it is about driving the MINI, but I seem to want to....well, GO!! It's a MINI bad habit that I'm trying to shed...(but it feels so good with the sunroof back and the hair whipping in the fast, faster, even faster breeze!!

If you looked up the word, you would have found the following;

re·tard·ed, re·tard·ing, re·tards
v. tr.
To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.

v. intr.
To be delayed.

n.
A slowing down or hindering of progress; a delay.

So in closing, I stand behind my choice of words.

No need. Context is everything. You described the driver as retarded (an adjective) for using their cell phone and hitting their "breaks" (sic), as opposed to "he retarded traffic." Your definitions are all verbs or a noun. So, check with your English teacher. Incorrect diction or bad alibi . Either way, you get an "F" and must repeat the semester.
