MINI got broken into....

while in Montreal this weekend for the F1 race. the stupidest part? nothing was even taken except for some plastic rosary beads i had in the cupholder. NOTHING else was taken - not CDs, not cell charger, not even an attempt at taking the stereo! thank GOD!!! but these ****&%@s did manage to tear off my doorhandle and completely F up my driver's side key hole. not to mention the 2 big scratches they left on the door using whatever tool they did to get the handle off. Montreal is really going down the crapper! seems like even more homeless crackheads this year and the city is really looking more run down than ever, and when i went to tell the Hotel Manager that my car was broken into in the Hotel parking garage, he actually said he was sorry, and if i wanted to file a report i could, but the cops may take a while being that nothing of value was taken, that's just the way they are there!! are you kidding me??? anyway, no offense to anyone from Montreal but i've lived in NY/NJ area my whole life, supposedly the car theft capitals of the USA, and this has never happened to me before. i've been going to Montreal for the F1 for 15 years and it's very disheartening for me. has this happened to anyone here before? how much did it cost to repair?

Makes me sick. Yes, it's happened to me but it was my rear glass. They took nothing...just wanted to bust some glass. As for cost...I have no idea, each repair is different and I have nothing exact to compare it to. Good luck on repairs....best thing (eventually) is to just fix it and move on.

Let me guess, the hotel is not liable for any damages to your car. Also you were paying them for the privilidge of parking there.

someone on another forum I visit mentioned their car was broken into at the F1 race, all of their possessions were stolen from the car including a PSP and other misc. things. He had a bunch of scratches on his keyhole, so he's thinking they might have picked the lock

I'm lucky since I leave my radar detector up and my $600 sunglasses on my dash. I know it's an accident waiting to happen, sorry bout your car though.

It sucks that you got robbed. I used to live in Montreal and nothing happened to my MINI.

Montreal is a very nice city, but as in every other big cities, there are some robbers... A friend of mine got his GLI (Jetta GLI that is) stolen in his indoor condo's parking lot.

When a stupid guy (also called robber) wants something, he gets it, no matter which country he's in.

Don't hate Montreal, hate robbers!

MINI Break-in

Someone tried to break into my MINI to steal my cell phone charger. They also semi-yanked the cigarette lighter/charger out of the car. They broke out both front windows and both rear lights trying to get in. I even saw some blood on the glass. It took me all morning to vacuum out the glass. My driver's side door lock had to be replaced as well as all the glass in the car.

I feel your pain.

I hope these people get bad karma from their actions.

I'd be willing to bet that they got scared off before they could do more.

sucks sucks sucks. i've lost 2 cd players and 2 head units in 4 breakins on my old civic. in southern calif. the cops would never even bother ot talk to me about something like this.

it's hard not to take it personally.

but... if there's one way of getting over it, it's by upgrading slightly whatever you have to replace. takes the sour out of your mouth. maybe a new cooler handle is on the market you can pick up.

i actually found what i thought they had stolen (the rosary beads). so these jackasses didn't even get in the car because NOTHING is missing thank God! but now i have a $510 bill from the dealer for the repairs !!! well at least nothing is missing of value (namely the car itself). lock cylinder and handle had to be ordered from Germany and may take about 10 days to come in. i just can't stand looking at it anymore!!!!
