Your first MINI accessory

Like many of you, i am due to recieve my new MCS in the coming weeks.

What was the very first thing or things you bought before you even had the car?

Crazy thought huh? well maybe not

Ive already bought a factory alarm, MINI valve caps, Aero grills, glove box organizer and wheel locks...

anyone else would like to share their experience?

Personally, you should get a pulley installed. It is the best mod for the $$.

A glove box organizer is all that is absolutely necessary, imo, but only if you want to carry "stuff" in the glovebox.

I got that and a shorty antenna (looks only)...that's it.

Technically MIB's first accessory was the alarm. We wanted it but didn't order it as we were not sure of the financing.
However a quick phone call and they installed it at the dealer. Which is where even the factory ordered alarms are installed.
Then a few months later and we got floor mats.

I had the GbT, AUX input, and parcel shelf in my hands weeks before my mini came. I picked up my mini on a Friday late afternoon and then spent the rest of that day showing her off. Next morning 7:00am I was installing these things.

The 1st thing I got was a glove box organizer (GBO). There is hardly anywhere in a Mini to put anything so I had to turn to the glove box ASAP

Euro Parcel shelf.

The day I got the car home I started tearing interior pieces out.

I also had my Dension Ipod adapter ready and some rubber floor mats.

Glove Box Organizer and Euro Parcel shelf went in first. Then put in stealth bulbs and tinted the wheel arch reflectors. Then got coco floormats and checkerboard mirror covers. Had all of these put on the first weekend. I've done more since, of course .

My first mods were like almost everyone else, Euro shelf and Glove box organizer. I agree, there is not much storage space in a MINI, gotta have room for my disco CD

We've got a box from Wet Okole sitting in our living room with seat covers and 2 boxes from Morristown MINI in the garage. One has floor mats and the other a windscreen. Now all we need is our new Mini to go with them . I'm hoping it arrives next week - it's been soooooo long!

I have Multivex side mirrors for my MCS convertible-to-be sitting on a dresser at home. I plan on putting the mirrors on at the dealership before I drive away for the first time!

Hope to get my car in mid-July!

I had my Glove Box Tidy and Ian's Auto-up months before my car arrived. Shortly after I took delivery (less than 1 week) I had a full set of rubber mats and boot mat installed.

I ordered Ian Cull's Auto-Up circuit before I had even placed the order on my MCS.

But I picked up the MINI with the following dealer-installed options:

JCW Tuning Kit, Sport Suspension, Sports Brakes & Sill Covers
AUX audio input
Sport Link
Invisishield / Clear Mask protection
Auxiliary Gauges
Lapis Blue handbrake cover, shift **** & lever gaiter
Black "S" Rubber Mats, front, back, and boot
Map Light
Wheel Locks

... and a healthy assortment of "non-installation" accessories too:

Outdoor cover
"Let's Motor" Black License Plate Frame
Black Rubber Floor Mats
Glovebox Organizer
Sun Shade
Bootbox Organizer
Cool Bag
Rear Saddlebag

One can never have too many MINI accessories & options! Since then, I have made many changes, of course... including upgrading the JCW "sill covers" to the illuminated "entry strips", and getting rid of the rear saddlebag (I have the Euro warning triangle mounted there instead)... and a variety of ongoing modifications that never seem to end. Thank God I don't have a wife or kids yet, or the family would probably be bankrupt!

Oh yeah, the stupid fugly American-market oversized cupholder was removed by yours truly right there in the service bay, before I even drove off the lot.

I had a set of new stock take-off wheels (15" holeys) and some Kumho V710 race tires waiting to go on the car before I took delivery. A friend and I took the car on a 1200 mile break-in trip the first weekend I had the Mini and I was racing it at a local autocross the 2nd weekend I had the car.

The GloveBox Tidy (GBT)
Euro Parcel Tray
Aux Input (which I put into the Euro Parcel Tray)
XM Direct
'S' valve stem caps (just bling, impulse buy)
Rubber rear 'S' cargo mat (the floormats were coming with the car)
Chrome grille (my labor is much cheaper than my dealers)

All are creature comforts & styling related to make the car the way I wanted it.

I got the Stebel Nautilus horns just days after I placed my order, and my mom got me the glove box organizer for Christmas (about 1 month before I took delivery)

I ordered my MCS with the JCW kit, Aero kit, additional wheels in anthracite, iPod adaptor, bumper protector, and union jack valve stem caps! I also plan to immediately buy the front bumper invisishield (dealer wanted way too much $$$ to install) and PIAA driving lights!

Car didn't move until the invisishield was installed. Light wheels will soon follow and then the JCW suspension. Other things coming up are window tint and get rid of that damn chrome q-ball shifter for a JCW.

GBMINI's auto-up window mod. Can't imagine how or why the cars don't come with it but this solves the problem. Can't recall who/where to get 'em now but someone can chime in with the details...

Glove Box Organizer, Euro Parcel Shelf, Ian's Auto Up Window circuit, and LightInSight. Six months later I put on Koni FSD Shocks.
