minis in the mountains?

im from new york and recently drove my mini to copper mountain .... one negative thing i would like to share is the altitude decreases the power of your vehicle due to the lack of oxygen . there are ways to prevent this , so if you are attending look into this

Having lived in Denver with a MINI and now living at sea level, yes there is a difference due to elevation and the thinner air there, but there isn't anything you can do about it. The ECU will adapt to the conditions on its own.

well on my journey my check engine light came on due to the altitude so i went to the denver mini dealer and they told me there are intake mods that you can do but the gas mileage gets killed ....the light turned out to be the o2 censor for the fuel (it was to cold to shut the car off during fueling)

I have had a MCS at 5000ft (in Albuquerque) for nearly a year, along with hundreds of other MINI owners. I'm sure there are many who live in Denver, too. We all live with lower HP than you who live at lower elevations, but there's nothing we can do about it. It's called physics. I, like many, have done modifications to our cars to "get back" all those horses sea-level people take for granted on a stock MINI.
A good example was the drag races last week. I ran a 15.78, but with the correction for altitude, my time was a 14.73, which is pretty fast for a little 1600cc car.
Be thankful you get the chance to run at lower elevations.

cheers,
