I like it. May get my rear windows tinted but not the pass/drivers, it's illegal above and beyond anything factory around here.

Already got busted once and had to peel it off.

Where did you get the tint job done? I'm looking to for a place to tint my Astro Black. I had my Black WRX wagon done in Palm Bay. They did an excellent job but the tint is a little to brownish for a black car.

Be careful up the coast. I know a few people who were given tickets beachside Melbourne for tint too dark.

What happens when you drive that level of tint north. NY and NJ cops would eat you alive i'd suspect.

I've been driving cars with tinted windows up north (from Florida to northern NY) for the last 20 years and have never had a problem. They can't give a ticket to an out-of-stater. It only has to be legal in the state where the car is licensed.

Is that tint applied externally?

I hate the appearance of the rear window rectangle lines on 95% of the minis I see.

How come yours does not have them?

Or, for $30 less, just use a roll of 1/2 inch electrical tape.
Thanks.

Not to bad at night, I do have a sun visor strip on the windshield dome in Limo 5%. That is Waaay dark. There is no way I could see anyone having that on the other windows.

I am one of the unlucky lucky ones I guess... I had skin cancer last year due to sun exposure, so I have a doctors excuse for my 5% around 5% sunroofs and 35% full windshield... I have been pulled over then appologized to for the hasle more than once!!! You can't see in the windshield even in the daytime much less the side glass....

I don't like sunvisors cause I don't like looking through a line so I just had the whole windshield done... I can go as dark as I want there to with the excuse!!

I'm using Xtreme in Franklin. They've done John Monk's last 2 cars plus do work for BMW/Mini in Nashville. If it's still there they just did a 35% job for MoN. It's the red 06 MCS with the black JCW rims and 2 stripes across the center of the bonnet, roof, and boot. I think it's on their web site.

Contact Landon @ 615-573-1616. Also let him know you were a John Monk referal.

I talked to a couple of folks at the dealer on tinting the SR. They said nogo because it would cause it to crack from the heat. Did you get any feedback on this?? I would definitely like a 5% on the SR but am chicken... tell me how it goes...

did any of you have problems with your windows rolling down when you open the door? i thought you had to leave your windows up for 24-48 hours after the tint was applied?

My installer said no problem, he said MINI is not the only car out there that does this. Ours is fine so far.

No problems with the tint on my SR, but Iv'e only had it on for a couple of months. I will post if problems arise in the future, butI am not really expecting any problems. I have heard of alot of people on a couple of forums getting there's tinted with no problems.

P.S. All the windows are exposed to sun and heat, why would the tint on the sunroof be the only thing that would start cracking? I know that heat rises, but then the tint along the tops of the windows would start cracking too. I think the dealer didn't know what he/she was talking about, I would say go for it

My installer said that he used a heat gun (hair drier) arround the edges to "set the tinting in place, and that I should'nt have a problem. But he placed strips of paper in the sills just to make sure that the weather stripping didn't catch the edge of the tinting and peal it off, just to be on the safe side. I left the paper in for two days and no problems
