As one of the people who complained about the ACC, I think I have to take at least part of it back.

I drove my car up to RI this weekend and enjoyed the first day above 40 degrees since I picked the car up. While driving I noticed the ACC redirected the air from the defrost vents to the dash vents. Once this happened, the fan noise dropped to a very reasonable level. I put the thing back onto "Auto" mode and found the ACC was doing just what I wanted it to.

So maybe the problem with the ACC is restricted to cold days where the car is trying to reduce condensation on the windows? I think I will still manually override in the winter, but if 3 seasons out of the year it behaves like this, then I'm satisfied. I understand now why it makes the noise and perhaps one day I'll figure out a way to bring the defrost fan noise down.

Boy is it nice to get some warm air up in these parts!

Nice to hear you are enjoying your car.

Could it be that the ACC is loud and has to be overidden (I had to on a test drive) when there are weather extremes?

Perhaps it was trying really hard to warm and defrost the car this winter. You will know the first time you try it in very hot conditions, I guess?

Push the Defrost button and hold it for a bit...then each time you push it should bring the fan speed down.

No, no. I know about the hold the defrost button trick. (Actually, I taught my MA about it when I picked up the car! Thanks MCO!)

The noise I refer to is from the defrost vents when the unit is in normal Auto mode. And the noise is very present at fan speeds of only 3 bars. It's not nearly as intense as the WindTunnel Defrost affect.

I love this car. Please, nobody get me wrong about that. We actually just took my family of 3.5 (1 year old and my wife is due in April) to RI and back (from NJ). We had a great time. My wife was amazed at how nice it was. She was dreading the trip. The normal "family car" was in the shop. I must admit, though, that sport suspension over very bad roads (GWB and Cross Bronx after a bad winter) were not easy on an 8 month pregnant body. We came back on smoother pavement.
