Miniac help...

My Dutch MA has told me that my 06MCS is now into production this week, however, Minis bought in Europe are not afforded the "whole Mini experience" as found in the US. Therefore, would my fellow American Miniacs assist me and share with me the many thresholds of Mini production, such as X-date is production date and X+3 is paint date, etc? As this will be my first (of many) MCS, I have no previous frame of reference for the "whole Mini experience". Of course, my shipping time will not be the same as mine will be delivered to Maastricht, Netherlands. Frankly, as a Mini neophyte, I was looking forward to this initiation into the Mini Family, however, I'll make up for this next time!!! Cheers!!!

Welcome to NAM. Do they not give you a production number overseas? Here, once you get a production number, you can track the progress by registering on the MINIUSA site. I placed my order on Dec. 30, 2005. My MINI (my memory is a little foggy) went into production on Jan. 16, 2006, was outside the factory waiting for transport to the dock on Jan. 25, was at the dock on Jan. 26 and was loaded on the Boheme on Feb. 1. It arrived at the VDC in NJ on Feb. 10 and I took delivery at my dealer on Feb. 17. I believe during the production cycle, the car is in the paint shop area for 2-3 days normally (between painting and drying time). There is a FAQ on the mini2.com site that describes the order of the statuses during the order, production, and delivery cycles. Hope this helps - good luck with the waiting.

Thanks!!

No production numbers over here, even as a Service member buying a US spec car. Just the typical "call in two weeks" deal. Not to bag on these guys; its just the European way, I guess. I ordered back on 22 March and called the dealer on Monday, 29 May. That's when he told me about my car going into production "sometime this week." Other than that, I call back in a "few weeks" and we'll have a better idea as to when Maggy will show up at the A2 BMW dealership in Maastricht!! rhawth99, thanks for the approximate time line. Now, off to print out a calender!!! Cheers!!

You're most welcome - be sure to keep us updated on any progress that you learn about and of course don't forget the pictures when you pick Maggy up!
