I ordered my mini a few weeks ago and last week my neighbor showed up with a chili red/white mini!!!! They got a demo, so it is only the basics, no sunroof or anything. My dilema is should I try to change colors? I really like the chili red, but having one across the street? Mine is pretty loaded, all packages so it would look a bit different with the larger wheels of the sports package, spoiler, and sunroof. What do you think? :???:

 

Get what you like the best and don't worry about the neighbors. They will be the ones wanting to change when they show off thier MINI and there is an even nicer one nearby.

Switch your top to Black....totally different look, but same red color you like...check out the gallery, theres a Red w/Black top just added in the last day or so ! Sharp Car ! :smile:

Think up some devious tacktics to make them move somewhere else. It may work. Or you'll end up in jail for harrassment. I'd smack 'em anyway. Tee hee heeeeee.
But I wouldn't let it bug you or get in the way of what you like and want. If the color really meant that much to you, I'd keep with what you have, and deal with it Otherwise if there's not too much attachment with the color, and it's not too late to change it, order a different color option.

 

CHANGE IT! Or better yet, get an S. If you get an S, you SHOULD KEEP the same color. Then you'll have the better model AND all of the options...He'll be looking to trade his in!

 

It's less awkward, if you both don't have them parked in the driveway.

Do either of you have a garage ?

If you do, you can paint the walls Chili Red, and the ceiling White, and park backed in, and open the door with a remote, and have cool 60's music kick in, synchronized with the garage door lifting, and dry ice smoke from a smoke machine come rolling out.

Now, THAT would be awesome !

Ooops ! Just thought of another thing. Daytime running headlights on, peering thru the smoke as it slowly pulls out ......

Doh! I think you'll be ok.....since your car has more options, it will make it stand out....if that is the color scheme you orginally wanted, don't back down from it unless you have seen something you like equally.....you could always make it a little more different by adding bonnet stripes or something like that.....just a suggestion

 

Yes, change the roof to black. Mine is Chilli Red with black roof - added to gallery the other day, page 22. I LOVE it, so cool and sporty. Plus I love that my mini is unique within minis.

Well, I am not going to throw myself off a bridge over it, but considering only 4% of yhe population knoes what a MINI is...kind of a bummer to have the same car right across the street. Isn't the point togetting a MINI to get something DIFFERENT?

Once you get you're Mini I think you'll keep it a looooooooooooooong time. That's why I think it's more important to get what you want. Don't worry about the other guy or being different. The car is a reflection of your choices. You can't put up a sign that says I got this ugly color combo that I really didn't want because my neighbor beat me to the cool color combo that was my first pick. Besides, with the original Mini, almost every rally car made was red with a white top. It's a classic. That's what I got. You'll love it.)
