In the early days there was an incorrect posting on MINI2.com stating that the 205/47-17 runflats were 30 lbs each (giving a wheel+tire weight of 55 lbs), which is not the case. Many people have weighed their S-Lites + tires on accurate scales and they usually come in around 47-48 lbs.

ok then... if they're that serious about autocrossing then we'll just have to assume that they're gonna get holeys or something very light for dedicated track use

Yeah, we plan to get 16" x 6.5" SSR Competition rims. Very lightweight at 11.0 lbs. But not cheap at $319 each!

I have to disagree, I like the anthracite with the space grey seats, looks sharp!
I also like the factory headliner, but it does make a sharp line where the 2 colors meet. For me, I liked the uninterrupted look but would have been good with the factory headliner.

Here's a space grey cloth seat interior with anthracite headliner and chrome interior package. Oh and the parcel shelf which I had just installed when I took the pic.

This pic shows the elbow landing pad, which I like instead of the armrest. It doesn't interfere with shifting IMHO. I may get the armrest that attaches to the side of the seat and can flip up out of the way, but for now this one is great.

That doesn't look like an Anthricite headliner in those photos....

Everyone has told me that it's jet black. That just looks like a darker shade of grey. Maybe they have changed it for 2005-2006? Dunno....

Mitchman, how about the rear fog light? $100 for the option, but probably twice that if you add it later. It'll keep you from having any gaps in the switch panel.

PS This was going around to torture people who were waiting on cars last year...

The anthracite headliner is NOT jet black, it is a much darker shade of grey. It matches the other interior items much better than the regular headliner color (which is a much lighter grey). The pictures shown previously of the headliner are accurate. My close friend has a 2006 with anthracite headliner, and it is the same as my 2005 headliner (which is the dark grey). \

I highly recommend NOT getting the 17" rims, they are HEAVY and VERY harsh. On my bathroom scale they weighed in at 55lbs per wheel/tire combo. I recently swapped them out for Team Dynamic Pro Race 1's in 15"X7", and I am very happy I did!

I recommend the xenons, I think they are worth the extra $$$.

I forget if you had DSC on your list, but I'd highly recommend it as well, just as a nice cushion just in case.

Good Luck!

Rawhyde: We thought about that, but we get zero fog were we live and we thought we might put another switch in there some day.

RallyMINI2005: Too late now....where were you 2 days ago. Sounds like the anthricite headliner would have been nice. I've heard people argue both ways about the 17-inch rims. We can always swap them out for something else. Funny that they're called "S-Lites" but that they weigh so much. Don't forget that Run Flat's are really heavy as well. (we're going to ditch those pretty quickly I predict) We ordered the Xenon's, but skipped the DSC. We don't get much ice around here either.

Hey guys,
Sorry, just have to put this straight for the record. Yes, the S-Lites are relatively heavy (at 25.1 lbs) but the 205/45-17 runflats are not....they weigh the same as most conventional tires of the same size (21.8 lbs for the Dunlops and 22 lbs for the Pirellis). So the combo weighs in at 46.9 to 47.1 lbs.

RallyMINI2005: Just talked to my dealer. He said there's only a couple of pounds difference bettween the 16 and 17 inch rims.

Don't believe everything your dealer tells you

25.1 lb for 17" R85 S-lite (misnomer)
17.6 lb for 16" R84 V-spoke

WARNING: YET ANOTHER ANTHRICITE HEADLINER QUESTION!

Okay, I know this has been beat to death, but we're still not totally clear (and we just found out that we can make changes to our order up until June 15th). So......

Please refer to BoCRon's photos (message #80) above. If you really look at the interior there are two colors of grey. The entire ceiling is one shade of grey (includes the plastic trim, visors, and actual headliner material), and the doors are all covered in the same shade of grey (plasic trim, etc...). The only shade of "lighter grey" is found in the centers of the seats. So our question is....

If we DON'T order the anthricite headliner, will the headliner be the same "lighter shade of grey" as found in the center of the seats? In addition, will only the headliner material be this lighter shade of grey, with the visors and plastic trim still being the darker shade?

Details, we need details....

The grey on the center of the seats is a different grey than on the factory headliner. The factory headliner is a solid light grey, the center of the seats is a more "textured" grey. But they go together very well, not to worry.
Take a look at this pic from another thread-factory headliner.

If you'll notice the pics in my previous post, the headliner (anthracite) is just that, anthracite, a deep grey. The button for the sunroof is black, the levers for the seats are black, and other things are anthracite. Don't panic, all the different shades work very well together. The carpeting is a dark grey. I have black cocoa mats with white flecks, the black mats look great with the dark grey carpeting.

I'll try to take a picture with both the seats and the headliner in the same shot tomorrow morning. shouldn't be too hard

I'm meeting up with my local club so if I can find a car with anthracite headliner I'll take a similar picture so comparisons are direct (same camera, lighting and everything else)

Thanks everyone. It's starting to get clearer now.

BTW, Annette, where did you get the cool "S" sticks for your visors?

I had Phil at Mini Pirate make them for me when he did my El Kabong graphics. He's one of the NAM vendors, so go take a look at his site.

not a chance I'd go for any stereo over the HK.

the HK sounds great and were I paying $1650 for a stereo instead of ~$550 I"d simply get the base, then rip it out and go aftermarket for a much better solution anyway.

I felt the HK was a bargain at $550 but would really re-consider spending $1100 over that and instead get Xenons with that money.
