R50/53 Pepper White Paint Match
Pepper White Paint Match
Have a 2006 Pepper White Mini Cooper and was rear ended with less than 1300 miles. Took to reputable body shop (BMW and Benz dealers use them) and they replaced bumper..and paint didn't match...lighter...ARGHHH Anyone have paintwork done on pepper white..and if so did it match..and if so..would you know brand of paint??? Or anyone else with suggestions...I'm sooo bummed right now.

Is it a huge difference? If you look even at brand new cars, plastic bumpers are never EXACTLY the same color as sheetmetal painted parts (more obvious on browns and silvers). But if it's a significant difference, the body shop should repaint it. Where I used to work we would give it a couple of weeks then repaint if it didn't match.
In this day and age there is no reason why a body shop can exactly match your paint, especially on a brand new car !
My first MINI was Pepper White and had bumper damage in shipment and my dealer body shop made the repair and blended paint in and you could not see the repair !
If it were me it would be redone to a perfect match !:impatient

At the body shop where I worked, if we charged an insurance company for blending on a trunk or quarter panels to match a bumper cover, they would not pay it. We would get a hateful phone call and the excuse I gave above about plastic vs. metal. Maybe you should see if that's what happened (the insurance wouldn't cover it) and take it up with them.
Nope, no reason at all they could not match it perfectly, even without blending. I had a very touchy metallic color on a BMW (light yellow metallic; I've also had stuff done with other colors including regular whites) and the shop painted a plastic body kit that matched perfectly. A good shop will not just paint out of the can but be sure it matches that car specifically so they can account for fading and other variences. I would insist that they (the shop and/or the insurance company) do it again and make it match, the car is supposed to me returned to the condition it was in at least, not worse for wear.
