Good idea, most of the time a manual transmission is theft prevention

Towing is exactly how most MINI thefts have occurred. Cranking or starting requires a key with immobilizer chip.
The fact is that MINI isn't attractive for theft. MINI has low demand in the black market for used parts and resale, and theft for joyriding has been pretty much limited to older cars after immobilizer chips were introduced.
