How cheap is the plastic...

I noticed today the plastic on the doors around the oh sh$t handle is starting to crack again. This is the 2nd time this has happened and was replaced less then 6 months ago.

I've noticed the same thing with my handles, and wondered how much it would cost to replace them. What kind of labor is involved, and is is something I could do myself?
