Just Not Fair

Had my strut mounts replaced by the dealer(Towson, MD) a month ago, under warranty. Great!

However!!!!

While changing my springs a couple nights ago, I find out that the dealer stripped the post on the top of the strut. Ofcourse, this is after I cut off the spring and it was about 2 in the morning. Okay, so I did the back springs and sway bar to finish of the night, around 5 am. Night owl. Neighbors must hate me.

Anyways!!!!

Next morning, I take the strut to the dealer and now it's not warranteed because I took the strut off the car. And I can't even put it back on with the spring being cut off. So I had to shell out some money for a new strut.

Is that fair??? They strip my post and now I have to pay for a new one.

Who do I write to? This ain't over!!!

Same ol' bs from MINI/BMW. That because they didn't inspect the defect on your car then they won't cover it. It pisses me off too

Considering you also did work on your car, then reported the problem, it is likely that they will consider you the one who did the breaking. That's how it has run in my experience...

Too bad you don't have a spare spring (I have mine) and you could reinstall the springs and go to the dealer and ask them to check for a noise
