I think picking the color was the toughest part of ordering the car.

Honestly when I began giving the specs on the order - I was only 2/3 of the way certain and I came {} this close to pulling an audible on the roof color.

Mini of Sterling has an electric blue mini with a black roof and black stripes (like the one on this thread) sitting on some grass and when I say grass I mean a foot of snow. First off, I think it looks great. The sun had come out and you know why they called it electric blue. I swear if I had come back a few hours later the snow around it would have been melted by the glare.

The scheme looks great, but it is definitely a look at me - but not directly at me - color. There's no stealth in that mini. Then again, who buys a mini for stealth?

I finally ordered an indi blue S with white top and mirrors, stripe and wheels. I think the white wheels have a matchbox effect on the car. Other than that, it's dead butch. Sunlight played a big part in my decision. I expect (ok I pray) I am moving to Miami soon and think the white roof (apart from being classic) will also help reflect heat more than a black top. In Miami, I would need to be wearing shades just to approach the Electric Blue.

One frustration I had is the limited color range on the S. I would probably have gone with Cosmos Black on an mcs. The idea of Darth Mini would be too fun to pass up but I didn't like the flat black available on the S.

Electric blue with black top and stripes is my choose of flavor. I hum-hawed about the color for awhile. I thought about IB/W, DS/W, and LY/B, but when I saw pictures of the EB/B, I knew that was the color for me. I've seen lots of EB/W's about (they look good too) but I have not seen a single EB/B yet. Just got to stand out. I'm naming my MINI "Bruiser". That's not to feminine is it.

brettco,

There are a lot of great colors/combinations available, but you've got to decide which one you like the best. (not an easy task) I'd say pick which ever one YOU like the best and don't worry about anyone else.

When I first stopped at the dealer, there was an EB/W MCS sitting in the center of the showroom and I was hooked. I had to have that combination and now that its here I love it.

I don't think the color or the car is either masculine or feminine. It seems to me it appeals to both sexes so order what ever makes you happy.

Good luck!

>>I have two thoughts on it though:

>>2. Is it a color that will withstand the test of time or in a few years will it be, 'why did they ever offer that color'?

1. Yes it is a man type colour and I don't think you are secure if you had to ask.

I've had my heart set on a EB/W for some time now...but this weekend I saw a DS/B and WOW it looked so cool. Like it was stealth hot. I think the EB looks fun. but not serious.
Having second thoughts..
Did want to ask are there still troubles floating about with the all black tops and sunroof, I think I read somewhere here about that.

For a practical standpoint I thought the white roof car with the sun roof would be cooler than the black roof.
Since basically the insides of the car are dark, leather, leatherette, or space cloth be damned.
what do you know/??

The EB definately is a more fun color and has a higher "smile factor".

In the sun the color is DAZZLING.

When my wife is driving her EB UJ on top everyone is always smiling, waving and giving her the thumbs up. Perhaps it's cause she's such a beauty...oh, and so is the car

His, Chile RED all over, Madness intake, Magnaflow exhaust, Helix pulley and RDR rear swaybar
Hers, EB UJ on top.

I ordered the EB/White and am still trying to decide if it's male or female so I can give it a name! LOL!

To me a MINI is rather androgynous. It sends out a very clear message of fun and individuality, not to mention a British design sensibility, and then some of the darker colors or black roof slant it to more serious and stealth (which can be called masculine) while others heighten fun and fast (still androgynous).

Oh and Emma Peel was my IDOL growing up.

Electric blue / white is simply a classic combination that also has a cheeky sensibility to it. Classic and cheeky are neither feminine nor masculine.

Electric blue / black is also a beautiful combination, or maybe I should say handsome. It is a bit more masculine than EB/W.

Then there's always EB/EB. That's a nice combo, too!

Go with whatever color makes you smile the most. You won't regret it.

BTW, I've had many many people comment, "That's the nicest color I've seen on a MINI" when they see my EB/W. Complete strangers, both male and female, young and old.

You will love the car in Electric Blue. It rocks!
There is rumor that the Electric Blue may someday be discontinued so as to make it a "Classic" MINI color. Thus every MINI in that color was built between 2000 and say 2005 - or whatever year it stops. It's just a rumor but it's been done with the Silk Green. When you see one, you know it was made in the first years of production!

My wife picked it ... but I LOVE it!

We've got white roof, mirrors, wheels and that combo really goes well with the EB ... very classic.

As for how will it stand the test of time in the way of style, it's a classic mini color in the first place. Check out the threads on the Bucks County, PA Covered Bridge run, there was a classic in that color scheme that showed up for the pre-run meet.

Now, go buy a Nizzan Z or Murano in those two shades of Burnt Pumpkin their selling now... that's a color people are going to wake up to in a couple of years (like they've got a hangover) and say "WHAT was I thinking?"

It's not the color that makes it less manly. It's the fact that you let your wife choose it!

EB is a great color. As for going out of style, etc. I think we all bought MINI's because of their unique if not somewhat quirky being. If anything the color adds to the uniqueness and personality...

But what do I know, I drive a Yellow M3

Actually, Dark Silver is a bit faster...sorry!

EB will be a classic. No doubt.
It is neither masculine nor feminine.
Most MINIs will have no trouble lasting over the years. Just keep them clean.
Up to now there are no EB anything except for MCS.

Over in the UK I have been here for 14 days and have not spotted one EB cooper on the road yet. The most common MCS color is red. I did see one or two EB in the showrooms used.

The fact that you are ordering a MINI means that you are secure in your "manhood" or "womanhood" or any "genderhood".
Its a car not a fashion accessory! All cars are vehicles designed to transport people from point a to point b. Granted some vehicles do it in "styles" which can be anthropomorphised (giving human characteristics to non-humans) by people. Maybe this is where the "chick" car thing got its start?! MINIs are definately NOT "chick" cars, though "chicks" and "women" drive them, as do many other types of "xxx" like "geezers" . Same as all other vehicles.
Exterior colors are just that, colors. I don't think that they appeal to any "feminine" or "masculine" aspect of our existence. They are just colors, period.
Congrats on the new MCS, don't sweat the color though, even a MCS in primer grey would be welcome,

I'm still debating on colors, I've owned a white (w/rust ) car, bright red, dark red, teal, BRG, navy blue, and a yellow car. Of all the paint jobs I've seen up close the EB is the most appealing.

The white top with white mirror caps looks very nice, when I mention it to my girlfriend she digs it, my father digs it. The bottom line is if YOU like the color, thats all that matters

IMHO, people that question you for something like the color of your car,
demonstrates insecurity on their behalf.

I also like it that it reminds me of my paro'keets!-http://www.dolch.net/downloads/images/nature/pairokeets.JPG

The car exterior is your canvas, paint it as you wish!

-Matt

First saw an EB/W in the brochure in 2002. Loved it would be an understatement. Later I found out it was an S color so it was kinda special too.

What do I know, I'm sorta impartial

Sunday, at the archery range in the first stall by the bridge was a DS/B which caught my eye…my 2 loves one old, archery and the new, cooper, intermixed. wow what a way to start the day….afterwards we dawdled down the coast passed by a VR/VR ooh la la, and dropped into half moon bay brewery for a stout and the only parking spot left was next to a EB/W..
As I sit here I see on my desk an EB pen, cup, and computer, and post its too. I must be trying to tell myself something. Thanks to my MINI friends I can see what I’ve been trying to tell myself for a while. Its gonna be EB/ ?

electric blue is an amazingly gorgeous color.. but i think it is also pretty girly compared to other mini colors. my friend, in a sad attempt to flirt with some girls asked them if they thought the car was girly or hot... it was my electric blue/white S and they said girly.. "its cute."
nevertheless i LOVE electric blue! its a very exciting color and i highly recommend it! i hides dirt REALLY well!
dark silver is more of a manly color though.....

EB/W is a feminine scheme, but it looks good on the car.

First off I have an EB/W with white wheels that I absolutely love. I got it used so I didn't really get to pick the color. At first I didn't like the white wheels but now I really like them a lot in spite of the extra work to keep them clean (of brake dust). Electric blue was my wife's favorite color but that just made it easier to buy it. I am 51 years old and do not think it's a girly car. Heck, my wife used to have a 5.0 Mustang so I think of them as girly. Also, we live at the end of a 800ft gravel road so any color that hides the dirt is a good color. A friend drove his dark silver/black mcs over to my house and his car was a mess after one pass up the driveway. Have fun, anyone of them will be a good choice.
