Has anyone gotten or considered getting the white tail lights? If so, how much do they cost? Installation? I have to say, the first time I went to miniusa I saw the picture if the Indi Blue with the white tail lights and fell in love with the car, shortly after I placed my order.

 

To my knowledge, the clear tails for the MINI have NOT been approved for sale in the U.S. by the D.O.T.

 

If you have a look at the dealer accesories catalog you can get 'clear' pods in the U.S. but they will have some red reflectors in them as required by the DOT. I have seen other cars on the roads with the 'mostly clear' light pod. It dosn't look too bad.

In the motoring accesories guide I got at my MINI dealer it says:

B. White Taillamps

This kit puts a spotlight on style. Includes reflector, lamp chamber, white turn flashers, high-mount brake lamp and required red reflectors(not shown). Additional purchase of Install Kit for DOT approval required.

I know what you mean. Saw the same pics. But Indi blue in an 'S' isn't available until September production. Otherwise I would have ordered that. Then I'd be looking into another few months on top of that just for the different color. But I must say that the Indi blue with white stripes/wheels/roof&mirrors, with the clear tails looks so sweet. I'm not sure the clear tails would really work on any of the other colors as well as it does with the Indi. I plan on having mine smoked on my Dark silver 'S'.
But I'd make sure about the red dye for the brake lights though. Most cities/states/provinces don't allow totally white lenses, and you would lose them on the spot if a copper catches ya, as well as a fine. Good luck.
