Mine sit's at the 12:00 position and doesn't seem to drift too far from there.

Are you inquiring about the oil temp gauge or the coolant temp gauge? My coolant temp sits at around 12:00 and my oil temp gauge is usually between 7:00 and 8:00

Aren't these gauges non-linear?
Is there much value in a gauge that's little more than an idiot light?

---> Note that the temp gauge is NOT linear; as the engine nears it's operating temp the needle will approach half scale then remain in that position throughout nearly a 50 degree band of temperature. Once the engine temp rises above a normal upper limit, the needle will begin to deflect higher, and rather quickly. The gauge itself is not a 'true' temp indicator, it's more of a low/normal/high three-level setup.

The chrono pak temp gauge is not like the standard gauge. It shows current temp and varies as the temp varies.

I was wondering about this very same thing as I noticed the needle go slightly left of the 12:00 position the other day. I read the manual but it said something like normal operating temperature is "in the center" or words like that but I didn't know if that meant in the middle of the whole range or whether they meant 12:00. Once the car has been running for a little while it gets to 12:00 and doesn't deviate much from there. I've only had the car for about 10 days.

What? Oh, man! I was thinking about the Chrono Pack, but now that I know that my normal temp gauge is crap (and not the good kind, Team Craptastic!) I wish I would have thrown down the extra $$$ for a real temp gauge.

Poop.

I am waiting for my new MINI ordered with the Chrono Pak, and a coworker just the other day had mentioned that BMW gauges had the behavior of not really showing you what was going on. It's good to hear that the Chrono Pak gauge is more realistic.

How about the oil pressure. Mine seems pretty low at idle when the engine is hot...as in below the first bar. Anyone else think it reads a little low?

I REALLY like the looks of the Chrono Pack. Glad I got it.
