How do you drive CVT Steptronic?

This may sound odd but how do you drive the sport-shift option in a manual? In a manual you let up on the gas when you shift but you stay on the power curve. When I do this in the sport shift option its very jerky, i think they refer to this as rubber-banding. If there's not a clutch, why let up on the gas?

don't lift up on the gas. you're just controlling when the auto shifts not the manner in which it shifts.

dashiel is correct, i think there is some more info in the owner's manual too if you wanted to read the "offical" answer. All it does is let you pretend there are gears... Its a great feature, kinda ironic to me but thats just my 2 cents.
