FRS Radio recommendations

I know there are a lot of FRS radios out there and am looking for a recommendation for a good set. I have looked at a bunch of them and all the specs look the same. Are the Moto's the best - seems like that is the brand everyone has. Does brand really matter or are they all pretty comparable?

I plan on using them with runs for the local club, and am assuming it will be useful for the trip to the dragon and at the dragon.

I also dont want to spend a super amount either, I know radios these days are pretty cheap. I want to get a good set - bought a set of 2-ways a while ago, and they pretty much sucked - dont want to do that again.

Thanks!

Motorola has been making 2-way radios and various communications equipment for decades... I'd stick with them. Currently I'm using a pair of Motorola Talkabout model T7400: 22 Channels (8 GMRS, 7 GMRS/FRS, 7 FRS), 99 Interference Eliminator codes (sometimes called sub-channels), 8 Weather channels, iVOX/VOX (Handsfree), Up to 12 mile range (depending on terrain), etc, etc. You could do a lot worse

I like the Motorolas, too. Make sure you get a set that has the sub-channels
because most clubs use the "official" MINI frequency: channel 7, sub-channel 21. Without the subchannels you would be able to hear what others said but they would not hear anything you say.
