I'm torn.... need opinions...

I am 6 days away from ordering an '06 S (waiting on funds). I have changed things so much in the past 6 weeks its not funny. I was all set on Dark Silver, no bonnet stripes, black roof and 17" anthricite R99's (We're just talking exterior here).

I have been all for that look, especially with the Aero grill mod being a definate..... but now I am considering....

Hyper blue, white roof..... white bonnet stripes and 17" web spokes (I HATE the S-lites). Either way I go I want to do the Aero grill mod. If I go Hyper blue I can probably save the $200.00 on the headliner. Any opinions out there would be GREATLY appreciated. Seem to have trouble finding GOOD pics of the Hyper blue, but plenty of the Dark silver.

As long as you got the external color you like, the rest dont matter. You can retrofit most anything (maybe not the headliner).

In other words, do NOT order the stripes. You can always add them. Or, for example, do NOT get driving lets ... aftermarket are better anyway ... etc. etc. etc. About the only thing you can't retrofit might be the Xenons.

Actually the white bonnet stripes are a definate no on the dark silver.... but love them on the Hyper blue...... I am getting the upper invisishield, so I would rather the stripes be on BEFORE that gets applied.....

You can always buy a clearbra afterwards ... lots of threads on that too! MINIs are very unique in that you can fix em up the way you want ... change you mind ... change the vinyl ... Get a new look every month!

My dilema is moreso the fact that i am getting out of an '04 Eclipse GTS in silver. And I love the dark look of the Mini in DS with the anthricite R99's. But I feel like the Hyper blue... I think would be more flashy? Maybe I'm just ready for a change getting out of the Eclipse.... perhaps I'm ready for some actual color?

I too second on NOT getting stripes... You can get nicer ones from Cooper Flags! (and cheaper!)

DO get the headliner... it is SOOOO worth the $200... and if you do it aftermarket the price goes WAYY up! (and the parts can be hard to get!)

Have you seen Space Blue and Astro Black? Dark but with some color?

Good luck!

Eh... not a Space blue fan. If its going to be dark, I'd rather go silver.... the whole gunmetal look. As for the stipes being cheaper...... doesnt matter. They would be included in the Sports package since I want the 17" web spokes. As for the anthricite headliner...... I dont know that I would want it with the Hyper blue...... outside bright.... bring it on inside. With the dark silver I would definately get the anthricite headliner.....

Eclipse? I can talk that Language. Just a few weeks back we got rid of a Red Eclipse Turbo... HUGE in comparison to the MINI. Wife's car. She wanted a Red MINI. When we walked around the lot, the ONLY other car color she liked was the EB with white stripes and white roof? I forget, is hyperblue the dark blue? The dark blue is very nice too.

Many ppl like the dark silver ... a bit restrained for my taste ... to "executive" looking. IMHO, MINIs should be flashy Yellows, Reds, Electric Blues ... fun colors. Check out the new PINK MInis by done by our members here.

Flashy is good. dark colors tend to mute the whole image ... others will disagree

No no.... I see where you are going with that..... a dark Mini would be more subtle while the Hyper blue (the bright electric color) would be more stand outish. Matter of fact... I have attatched a pic of the car that really got my Hyper blue fire goin.... even though I am not doing white wheels or the Aero kit.... just the aero grill mod. (White wheels..... who has time to keep 'em clean????)

I knew someone would say that..... because thats exactly what I would tell someone. Seems my ideas change with the wind, so hopefully it will settle by this Saturday. I really am leaning toward the Hyper blue though...... it's just more "flashy" I suppose. Too bad I'm not a fan of the red..... could save myself the $500 bucks on the metalic paint. VERY difficult to keep these cars under 30k.

Oh, those were the days... Young lovers... you and your MINI... So indecisive...

I must have gone thru the MINI building process a few thousand times before I pulled the trigger, and I'm starting to do it again! Addictive...

You'll really like whatever you get. I mean, come on... IT'S A MINI!

I just want to be happy with what I get.... and really.... I think the brighter blue over the darker silver will just be more shiney. It's nice to wash and then wax your car and actually be able to see the brilliance!

Oh yes. That color is the one other color I (not the wife) would get. Its very sharp with the stripes, white roof, white wheels, white mirrors (especially a convert)! Yep, do not get white wheels, you will regret it although ... some ppl love em!

At first all I wanted was Indy Blue/white with white stripes. I was crushed back in '02 when I learned that the color wasn't yet available. Instead I went with ds/w and standard white bonnet stripes.....loved it! Metallic dark silver reflects light and shines like no other color.....it actually twinkles!

The '06 is ds/ds with white Shelby Cobra stripes on the bonnet, boot and rear bumper that I recently got from Cooper Flags.....love it! In retrospect I'm glad that I couldn't get the IB and nothing has come along in the meantime that attracts me more than dark silver.....no regrets.

Well Ib then HB were the color I first fell in love with but have been in love with JB (don't worry they don't make it anymore) so I'm all for the HB, but wanted to assure you whatever you end up deciding you will love your MINI and I doubt you won't be pleased with the choice.

There's a HB/W MCS a block up from where I live, and it always gets me drooling every time I see it. It's a sweet color combo, almost as nice as the discontinued IB/W. Only problem is that it really looks nice with white wheels, and white wheels will quickly become a ball and chain if you like your car to look clean.

And I am VERY **** about keeping a car clean. I thought about it this way..... I wear bright white shoes. I love white shirts.... (new ones). I don't like darker shoes or black jeans. I am more of a flashy person.... and I suppose I should view the car as something I would wear. I LOVE the dark silver don't get me wrong. But I think long term..... the Hyper blue will make me the most happy. I am not paying the heft tag for the aero kit, but WILL do the aero grill mod. And I have a feeling from the pics I've seen..... I'll end up doing the side skirts later. At least they can be added easily!

I'm torn...Need opinions

Hi.. I am new here so bear with me. I got a new MCS hyper blue/silver roof and aero kit--the front and rear fascia and side skirts are also silver...I will post a picture tomorrow for you to see. Hopefully it will help you decide..
It was a gift from my husband for Val Day...

Well Mr. Space MacGyver , I will have to vote on the side of HB/W as that is what I'm ordering this Friday for Baxter out here at D&R. I bet you would be a fan of the Indy Blue if it was still available like me. IB I think is my favorite color of MINI. I have to say that they HB/W really pops and fits the character of the MINI as a playful, fun-loving machine. I kind of wish I could go for the Web Spoke, but alas I am more interested in other areas of the car. Good luck with your order. How long have you been at configuring and reconfiguring and hasseling over small details on your mini? It has been nearly a year for me and after about 1000 builds and rebuilds I'm still agonizing over little things like if I should get the aux port and have the dealer install it, buy it later and find a group doing a garage night and do it then, or wait a while and do an iPod adapter during a garage night.

I like my CR/W with the Union Jack, BUT my second choice is Hyoer Blue with a white roof, bonnet stripes and wheels. The aero grille looks ok, but I prefer the chrome grille. I like the Hyoer Blue much better than the Indi or Electric Blues.

Have fun finalizing your decisions...

Rawhyde

PS Space MacGyver...that's funny...actually, I'm watching him right now...it is Stargate Monday after all

HB rules, do not get white roof, get a solid color mini, and with those R99s it will look killer
