OC3 mat(seat occupancy detector). Even if the dealer orders you a new one to please you, it will have the same lump.

I have little bump in the middle of the seat in the most forward seat panel... Going to have it biopsy on it from the mini dealer today at the 10K service.

So is this in cloth and leatherette or also in the leather sport seats? I figure it would be a little harder for the buldge to happen with Leather.

The dealer recently replaced mine under warranty. No improvement. Actually, worse if anything.

They still don't have a fix for this problem.

2006 Mini Cooper S with leatherette sport seats. Exact same bump. I wonder if they'll remove the sensor? We don't have kids and could live just fine without it.

Went to 10k service at Bill Jacobs MINI in Naperville, Ill. and they replaced the "seat cover for front passentger seat (as from 01 05 with OC3 mat)" and the bulge is gone.

My 06 has this as well. When I asked my dealer about it he said that it was the airbag sensor and that there was a fix for it. The would only fix/replace upon customer complaint however. He suggested to wait a while until the seat wears out or gets damaged to replace it.

Would like to ressurect this thread and determine if anyone has a "do-it-yourself" fix for this bulge problem caused by the air bag sensor in the right-hand bolster of the passenger seat?

From all I've been able to glean from previous threads/posts is that, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it! If this air bag sensor messes up, it can create many more expensive problems than a simple bump in the seat bolster.
