>>That is classic It's always a frustrating experience :???:

I know what you mean....it's like "I would like to help you, but I can't register your car becuase you need a notorized copy of your 3rd grade report card".

My DMV is the same - it's a BMW. I knew I would have trouble because the car is titled in both my wife's name and mine without an "and/or" and KS assumes it's "and" which means that she would have to be there to sign the papers. Well to make a long story short, I was prepared for this when I arrived by myself and when the lady asked where my wife was, I told that she was across the street at a craft shop and I'd take the paper to her to sign. Then I promptly went outside, sat in the car for five minutes, forged my wifes sig and bingo....registered car.

>>Now to actually find that person named Minnie Cooper...

One of my good friends is Bill Cooper. His wife stands a wopping 4 ft. 10 in. I think their full grown daughter is even shorter. When they saw my car... well you could guess the rest.

His brother's name is John Cooper and has ordered the JCW emblems.

>>Actually, it was up here in Vancouver, WA at the Hazel Dell Auto License place.

Being that my wife lived in Vancouver, WA for 31 years of her life, I can tell you first hand that many people there are quite backwards. I can understand how things got crazy for you at the DMV. I lived there nearly 4 years before I just had to get out!

I had a not-so-fun experience at my insurance company. They said they couldn't insure my 2002 MCS because the car was not in their Database. They ballparked the estimate for me, i paid the first installment, and then got a bill for $1.5K MORE than the estimate!!! They "updated" their databases and now I officially drive a BMW Cooper S. Though my registration sais "MIN 2002" not MINI, MIN. Whatever, those beurocrats should get off their asses, and work, instead of just charging money because we have NO CHOICE not to have an insurance policy. NJ in general suxsor with insurance.

I'll post pics as soon as it stops raining and I can give her a bath.

I'm diggin' the silk green. Everyone comments on how beautiful the color is. Yesterday, a PT Cruiser followed me home into my alley to ask about her and the color. They're going to trade their car in, but looked VERY disappointed when I told them the color has been discontinued.

My NY registration does say MINI, but my EZ pass account has the make listed as "unknown" and model as "MINI Cooper". They must have figured my car just appeared out of nowhere, and wasn't built by anyone.

You think this is fun, you should try registering and insuring a vehicle that was never officially imported to the US. Land Rover stopped importing long wheel base trucks in 1968 and stopped short ones in 1973, when they renentered the American market they came under the MODEL name (Range Rover) with a different model. Later they did reintroduce the model but with a different name (Defender 90 [like YuccaPatrols] and 110) but only for 3 and 1 year respectively. Now imagine what happens when I show up with a 1973 Long Wheel Base Land Rover
Don't stop the madness

Gotta say, GEICO was ready for us when we called to insure the MINI. We gave them the VIN number, the agent punched it in.....and then went oooohhhhhh you got a MINI!!! All the insurance papers say MINI Cooper, still haven't gotten the registration from the state yet, better come soon my temp tags expire this weekend.

I had the same reaction from my Safeco insurance agent when I called to tell her I was getting a Mini. While I was on the phone with her, she pulled up the MINIUSA site, and all the agents in the office were clustered around the screen all excited. One of them is buying a Mini for his son because he's so impressed with the safety record of the car. My own agent is seriously considering buying one herself!

Anyone related to the military, vets or with parents who served, check out USAA! They are the BEST insurance company we've ever dealt with: polite, helpful, and they have the best rates around! We even have our homeowner's policy with them!

Cheers!

>>I do find it pretty odd that DMW and insurance companies haven't updated their systems to show MINI and not BMW. I mean, you don't see FORD on the registration for a Mazda Miata.

That would require us to revert back to the old testament. Stone them to death blasphemy

Had to chime in here since I just got my registration.....

Since I live in Washington I was really wondering what my registration would say. I got my insurance documents and it states my MINI is as BMW, on the registration it states it is MINI not a BWM......I thought that was step in the right direction.

Also, ordered my vanity plates and I am getting "MOTORON"

The new plates come in 3 weeks.....

The best DMV is right here in Chicago, well broadview acctually. Imagine with me for a second. When you walk into the BVDMV the first thing you are assulted with is this obscenely fat, obscenly ulgy man. This man has a face that makes babies cry and old ladies crap their pants. No matter how much id you have to prove you are who you claim to be, is never enough. Bill clinton could walk in with Moses, Jesus and mohomed as witnesses and this dude would tell him to go back and get some more reliable witnesses. If by chance god smiles on you the day you go there and the fat trogledyte *** dude decides you should pass, he then shunts you in to one of fifty lanes for you to sit in and wait.
After being herded through these lame *** lines staring like a zombie at all the other zombies you might make it to the front desk, (or more likely the place will close and you'll have to come back the next day) at the desk you'll encounter some old AARPA net computers and hans moleman running the antiquated eye test stuff. See living in IL it was decided that all the money to improve the DMV was set aside for the Elect George Ryan campain fund, now that money is shunted to keep the Keep Georgies Sweet *** outta Jail Fund. If by chance you get a license or id when you go down for it you should imedietly go and play the lotto cause your really blessed. I'm soo terrified of going to and IL dmv that i've moved twice in 2 years and still havn't changed my address on my ID's.
