Anticipation

My Lambchop was "awaiting transport" from 12/18 to 1/6 which drove me crazy, but I was told after the fact that was when the factory shut down for 3 weeks; don't know if I believe that or not, I've read different time frames on the forum for the shut down dates so I don't know which is right, I got my info from ASK MINI. Anyhow...it finally arrived at the docks on the 6th, pulled out on the 7th and is somewhere in between Baltimore and Charleston now, scheduled to arrive on the Freedom this Sunday, 22nd! I'm curious to know how long before it's checked out again and then trucked to Atlanta - anyone have firm info on that? I'm hoping to be able to get it toward the end of the first week in Feb., but I've learned this is a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g drawn out process (I ordered on 11/16) and never anticipate it to go on schedule; I'll just be pleasantly surprised if it makes it by then.

Wow, I also ordered around Nov 16 and am expecting it the first week of Feb.

While I don't think this will set a record, it everything works well, my "factory to owner" delivery - according to my MA - shoiuld be about the fastest you can expect. My car was out the door of the plant last weekend, onboard the ship on Wednesday and is now at sea. In 9 days, it will be in NYC and at my dealer in Princton 2 or 3 days later. With 2 days of dealer work for options (JCW suspension and such), I should have it the first week of Feb. I am lucky because the NY terminal is less than an hour from my dealer. So, I am assuming that around 2 weeks is the best possible time - and goes down from there with misconnections with ships and distance from arrival ports in the US.

Actually thinking of taking the 45 min drive down to the auto terminal to check out the ship when it arrives.... Man, I have it bad....

I think your MA is absolutely correct. Because of the factory closing there won't be any back-ups at the ports or at the VDC. Therefore, it is unlikely
that there will be any further delays for the cars that are now in production.

From what I understand (absolute newbie, soon to be Mini owner here), the MiniUsa tracking is a bit lagged and may not even update in a week or two between transition locations for your car. I called 1-866-ASK-MINI and they let me know that even though the MiniUSA site still showed "In Transport" my Mini (Red Erik) was actually already in California!!! The folks at AskMini are very nice, and certainly seem to share our excitement, so give them a call! Plus, it is all an accepted part of our passion! Good luck and happy waiting!!

To quote what Red Erik said call ASK-MINI. When I order mine they said it was in transport one day, the dealership called the next to tell me it was sitting at the dealership. Hope you enjoy yours as well as I do mine.

Here is the history on HAL. I never really saw "at dealer". I knew the delivery date before the website showed it. You can actually track the car coming accross "the pond" once you have the VIN.

Good Luck and Happy Motoring
