Why is it wrong to leave your hand on the gearstick after shifting? I've driven sticks for 34 years and have always rested my hand on the gearstick. Big oops??

Don't know if it's a myth or not since there's been many debates back and forth, with no real facts. I just don't have an arm rest, so I usually put my right hand back on the steering wheel or rest it on my seat bolster.

Simply because you are compromising your ability to control the vehicle by not keeping both hands on the wheel.

Ask any driving instructor. Resting your hand in the shiftknob is simply a bad driving habit.

I've always kept a hand on the shift **** between shifts with one hand on the wheel. Until I get really old and feeble I'll keep doing it.

And, well, I hope the mini gets to see some track time after a few thousand miles.
I think that will fix it for you Nics. When I'm sitting at a light and get ready to go I always always always pull it into 2nd before pushing it straight into 1st and have never had the problem. And even with my Whalen I still do it. But I must say that The Whalen makes it smoother all around.
