I think I would "set up" the dealership service department - write the mileage down on the service ticket when it was dropped off and when you came to pick it up have them record the mileage again on the service ticket - if there is no significant difference, and you requested they test drive - then take the ticket directly to the GM and request a zone manager appointment where you're planning to share the results with MINIUSA. Take the "he said - she said" out of the equation and let them hang themselves - it sounds as if they are just that dumb.

This did cross my mind. I am calling the Service Manager that took care of me and requesting the car to AGAIN be looked at. Even though I have these mods, I rarely beat on this car. I may hit some high speeds but i NEVER dumped the clutch, I always rev match. I feel like if I do beat on it its going to fall apart. Just today driving home from a friends house I started hearing a new rattle. This is what just drives me insane. I just cranked up the music and tried to ignore it, but I almost punched my steering wheel when i started hearing the HK speaker buzz... now im just gettingn really upset. I truely do love this car...

With the mods that are listed I don't think you would have a prayer with any lemon law claim.

Sorry, warranty talk.

I dont want to explore any Lemon Laws, I just want my car to stop making noises or else I will trade it in for another car. The resell value is very high. I'm exploring that as an option if this doesnt get eventually corrected.... it makes me mad, i love this car!!!

I understand where you're coming from, Pat. The MINI is a good car and like all others, it's not perfect. The problem lies with several MINI service departments being incompetent. Making the warranty not worth anything. Why have a warranty if the service departments can't or will not fix the problems?

I've come to the conclusion that from now on I'll fix any small problems that arise myself. If it gets to a point where it is above me or costs well over what it cost me to take a day off and gas for a trip to the dealer. Only then will I go to the dealer. Of course something like your transmission problem obviously needs to be taken care of by the dealer. The speaker buzz though. I do believe that was a problem which could be taken care of by replacing the speaker. See how much a speaker costs and maybe do it yourself if it's not much. Obviously don't purchase parts from dealers you have visited. Why give them money on stuff they should be fixing themselves under the so called warranty?

The service departments are going to mess it up for MINI several years down the road. Most here will put up with stuff but once the masses start having problems and the word gets out about the quality of service. Service is either going to need to change or the masses will go back to Honda's and such for economy instead of the MINI.

Good luck with your decision. It can be frustrating but don't let the crappy service departments ruin your good time in the MINI.

Hey you could always purchase my 05 JCW (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=58627) I have been driving it and it doesn't have any of those miles. I will even fly you down if you want to pick it up.

Just plugging my sale

Sorry, about the car though.

I feel so bad for you... I have had nothing but wonderful times with both my MINIs...but, like girlfriends/boyfriends/spouses, every now and then you get a loser....

It's time to take the retched thing back and invoke the "lemon law." (Too bad can't do that with family....) Don't give up on MINIs altogether, though....if you chose to get another, it may be your best friend.

Good Luck, Mick

From all of us who've had many sMiles of marvelous motoring in our MINIs, it is painful to hear that you've had such a miserable experience. Hopefully you're happier with the Si!

Sorry to hear that, Pat_Cooper. That's what I was afraid of. Yes, I too, bought my car from Hassel...I'll keep others on this site updated as to how their service is for me. Hopefully I won't be seeing them for awhile, though, as I have only 1500 miles on Lil' Vic. Good luck with the Civic!

It makes a HORRENDOUS noise when first gear catches, or in reverse. Each time I've been given a stupid excuse to why it actually makes that noise. One service center even said its somewhat NORMAL. Are you f*cking serious???? I've had the HK sound system which i paid extra for and it sounds like crap. Each time they say they fixed the speakers buzzing and they havent. I've also taken it in for my dash that is constantly making noise (buzzing, vibrating). I drive over an hour to work and over and hour back and i hear this annoying noise and i wanna pull my hair out.

I go out of my way in driving from Westchester (where i work) to Long Island to drop off my car. I bug them to get a rental ("we have no rental or loaner policy"). They keep the car over night and claim they have driven the car. Well... I wrote down the mileage before I gave it to them, and when I picked it up, it was EXACTLY the same. They said they drove the car for quite a bit and didn't notice any problems. They claim the noise was coming from a "loose exhaust plate" which was tightened. Give me a freaking break. I am really considering selling this car. I've had nothing but issues since day one and little things are just driving me absolutely insane.

I'm headed to the BMW dealer 1/2 mile from my house to look at the new 330 or maybe a Audi A4 which is also 2mins from my house with a Service center at both of these locations. I'm sick of driving 40 mins or sometimes 1 hour and 40 mins just to get service and then have them lie to me.

I'm probably all over the place with this rant but im so sick of this bullsh*t.
You've been mistreated and the car is not living up to its reliablity or quality standards; kudos to you for moving on to the civic si.
