Don't worry, you can post on the MMC thread and add the silly number to your sig too, if you want... go ahead! What are you waiting for? WHEEEEE! It's free!

Maybe I should change my mind, join it and call myself MMC #1,234,567.89 (gotta have the decimal places).

Think about the upside. He doesn't get one of the virtual t-shirts when our minions are done creating them in the virtual warehouses AND ...
Once the low numbers go on sale on Ebay, THEN he will get jeolous

My "lemming" comment was ALSO in jest, but apparently you took that very personally... funny how it referred to ALL MMC members (i.e. ANOTHER lemming), yet only you are offended?
And no, I will not shut up. If I want to comment, I will. That's precisely what forums are for. You have every right to look at any other thread and put your own two cents in too.

Sorry, it just seemed like the lemming comment was directed towards me and I took it the wrong way. My bad.
ALSO, I never told you to "shut up". I just wanted you to not visit this thread if it bothered you so much.
It took me all day, but I'm finally realizing the humor in all this. It's hard for me to read the sarcasm and humor in some posts. I'm getting it now. Doh! Where's the keyboard in mouth icon?
Sorry for my misunderstanding. I stand corrected!

For dickdavid
Allow me to try this olive branch...
I never intended to actually insult you personally... and I apologize if you felt insulted. My cynicism on the whole "MMC" thing dates back quite a ways (if you read through the entire main MMC thread, you'll see that), and since you're fairly new to the whole debate, I can especially see why you wouldn't appreciate the continuing commentary.
OK, it's clear that I think the MMC club is a ridiculously dumb idea. You know that, I know that, everybody so far who has read these posts knows that... but as long as more and more people sign up just to "join in" (hence the lemming comment), I, and a few others, are probably going to continue to poke fun at it.
For what it's worth, just from the little information in your sig, I have been impressed at the nice decal you put on your car (although I told you that already), and I want to also say that I think it's pretty cool you have the JCW sound kit for your Cooper. I haven't heard or seen one yet... but I am curious about it and hope to see one in person one day.
Let's let bygones be bygones, and understand that people won't agree about stuff, and some of us (who, me?) are a bit 'louder' than others from time to time. It's the nature of a free forum like this one.
I'll leave with my favorite MMC-related quote, from a former president of DC Metro MINIs and very frequent contributor (and moderator) here:
"I am not a number! I am a free man!"
EDIT: After posting this, I just saw yours... great! TRUCE!

BTW, I do agree that the number thing is pointless.

If this doesn't sum up nicely what's so great about MMC, I don't know what does!
The only thing funnier than how pointless it is is how obsessed some non-members are with pointing out how pointless it is.

It should be renamed UPMC - "Utterly Pointless MINI Club". A club is supposed to be more than just claiming ownership of a number!
Haha - what upsides? Please do elaborate...
LOL touche on the president part... but in her defense, being President of DCMM is a LOT to handle when you are the main club organizing the Dragon (remember, the biggest MINI event in the country). Don't forget that we scared off two previous presidents too, who moved to California.
You couldn't be more wrong, bud. It has nothing to do with being "cool", but you DO realize that the only thing that the "club" does is self-assign numbers and post them, right? And you think that's valuable? Looking for uniqueness? Why not rely on our own unique NAM name, and if you REALLY want a number, your own member ID on NAM? For what purpose does this new number serve? Absolutely none. You already did a very cool thing by putting your NAM name on your car (props for that, BTW)... so why do you think you need a meaningless number?
Of COURSE I know what fun is - why the heck do you think I drive a MINI? Besides, didn't you see the TONGUE-IN-CHEEK smiley I used? I was JOKING around at the same time I was poking fun. Hmm... sounds like it's YOU that is missing the fun.
As for being banned, HAH! I never asked to be in it, in fact I flat out refused when they TRIED to pin a number on me.
So at least please try to READ things properly next time. There's a reason that many of us deliberately choose NOT to be a part of this sillyness... including Mark, the guy in CHARGE of NAM. <cough>

EDIT: Actually, after checking, I have posted in that thread, so that qualifies as participation I guess... but it wasn't to join the Team Craptastic (intentionally, at least!).
Ahh, that's the spirit. See, nobody gets upset.
What's stopping you? There are no club rules... just post in the thread that you "claim" 666 for yourself... other people who were "waiting" for the number they wanted have done this.
Maybe I should change my mind, join it and call myself MMC #1,234,567.89 (gotta have the decimal places).

But I do enjoy entertaining... whether you laugh with me or at me, I don't care, just keep laughing.
So imagine this: it's 30 years from now. Some guy is rebuilding a vintage 2006 MINI (the last GOOD year before all the turbo crap) and he comes across a small metal plate on the engine block with the number MMC# 252 on it. A five page thread on NAM (in the Classic MINI forum, of course) finally concludes that it was some sort of factory special edition that no one knew about. The car sells for $5,000,000 in the FOR SALE forum. Who's laughing now...
