Some jerk in a big ole truck just rear-ended me on my way home from work!! I was waiting at a stoplight, minding my own business, when (according to my sister, who was in the passenger seat) this guy comes up from behind, reading something while he's rolling to a stop, and slams into me!

Poor Blanche is still driveable, but her lower rear bumper panel is cracked. I haven't even had this car for a month!!!

Ouch. Poor MINI. Let us know how they are with bringing her back to health. (What kind of flowers does one send a hospitalized MINI?)

Thanks, guys. I literally had tears running down my face while I was copying down the guy's drivers license info! I've calmed down a lot, though, thanks to you all and my supportive husband (and an ice cold martini, which I am just now sipping).

The funniest part of the whole thing was that the guy said, "Look, can we not go through our insurance companies? I have a friend who fixes cars and I'm sure he can work on yours."

Yeah, RIGHT! Like I'm allowing anyone but a skilled, Mini professional to put their hands on my baby!

I'm so sorry to here about you car, I know I'd be balling if the same thing happened to me! Do you have the chrome inserts on your bumper? I was just curious about how that would hold up. And was the guy going faster than 5mph? Again just curious about your accident in relation to that stupid 5mph bumper test they did a while back.

I not only sympathise with you, I can relate:

My 24 day old, pepper white, black roof, etc. Mini was rear ended, HARD, by a pickup, at a red light, on monday morning while driving to work. I've got some minor injuries, but the wee one is out for three weeks, while they work to replace and fix the boot, rear quadrant, a bent frame, etc. looks like I'll be driving a rental about as long as I drove my beautiful new car.

It completely and utterly sucks (though the cop on the scene did tell me that the smasher said that "he was sorry&quot, at least you don't have to deal with injuries. Have you gotten yourself checked out? Make sure you do - the Mini is a very safe car, but take care of yourself, too.

I take small consolation that the authorized Mini repair shop here only does luxury cars, and that someone brought in an Aston Martin when I was filling out paperwork. Someone's "brother in law who is pretty good at these things" ain't touching my car!

Looks like this was NOT a good week for Pepper White Minis. Very sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry to hear it, I'm going to brave the cold garage and do the brakelight mod today. aybe that would help avoid a rear ender, Chip, if your unibody was bent, you should be clamoring for a new car, they may pull the frame but it will never be the same.

Sounds totalled to me, make them give you a pos rental tell your newly ordered one comes in. tell them they can keep the one with the bent frame
