R50/53 Spartanburg Expansion??

It has been reported that BMW has filed for building permits to expand Spartenburg - the indication is that they need room for "mini-car" production; Can anyone confirm or deny that and does "mini-car" mean MINI or 1-Series?

Here is the link to the expansion Spartanburg Plant they are ramping up to increase the production of Z4's to 230 per day.

No MINI's to be made in America......

... I'm sure BMW would be pleased to know that the Z is being refered to as a 'mini-car' in the trade papers!

If they made the MINI in a BMW plant in Spartanburg, they'd have to put a blue and white roundel on the front, now wouldn't they?
